Bacon and Eggs, Anyone?

Hungry?

I fried up some paper bacon and eggs yesterday.

I made the egg and bacon strips using a mixture of Liquitex gloss gel medium and Imaginecrafts Goosebump spray.  I watercolored the bacon and inked up the yolk after cupping the circle in the middle using a stylus.  Then I put a large amount of the gel mixture on the papers and fried them with a heat tool.  I did a few layers on the bacon sponging on some Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Walnut stain in between coats.  Built up an extra layer of gel on the yolk.

I was inspired by three challenges on Splitcoaststampers.com:  the Inspiration Challenge (my choice of image was some pretty Easter Eggs), the Sketch Challenge (I used it for this card), and the Mixed Media Challenge (my blue paper strip is from a security envelope lining and I used three mediums to qualify).  If you are not a member, I really encourage you to join (it is free unless you want a Fan Club Membership which is not expensive and well worth it).

I am off to fry up some real bacon!

  3. It is totally amazing how real this meal looks. I'll bet the real bacon you were cooking up is just as delicious also. Wonderful use for the security envelope strip. I'll have to try to remember that. Wishing you a great Sunday.

  5. I can't believe how realistic your bacon and eggs look Nancy. All the layering must have taken a lot longer than cooking up real bacon and eggs. I am so impressed. TFS my friend. Love your layout too. Hugs, Nancy

Flowers, a Flag, and Some Wise Words

Hello Crafty Friends! I love Halle's theme at **Art*Journal*Journey* this month: Botanicals. So many possibilities... I combined the botanical theme with some of the colors in ARTNUDGE#725A and came up with this Bible Art Journal page focusing on 1 Timothy 2:1-2. I also made a patriotic prayer card too. In these verses, Paul tells Timothy (and all of us) to pray for everyone but he especially calls out prayer for kings and leaders. He indicates that this type of prayer could lead us to a tranquil and quite life in all godliness and dignity. I think we can all agree that the world needs much prayer right now and it is an easy step we can take.   I experimented on this journal page. I usually cover any bible journal pages with gesso before painting on them, but I have issues with the gesso gumming up my Micron pens or unevenly taking color. This time I used Daniel Smith Ground Medium in Titanium White (I mixed it with 10 parts water). I loved it and will be using it in the fut...

Wise Words for Life's Storms

My first post as a Guest Designer for Creative Worship Stamps. This watercolor and ink card features one of my favorite CWS sentiments - Big God . I am so grateful He is there in storms and this stamp beautifully underscores His power. The main panel of this card is watercolor paper and was painted with Daniel Smith Watercolors and Liquid Ink (the white highlights in the rain drops). The words were stamped with black ink from Close to My Heart. Hugz, Nancy
