New Stuff!!!

A post to catch up on some recent cards.  Playing with new stuff is always fun!

This card was made for the Featured Stamper Challenge today on SCS.  I used my new Barn Door Bundle from SU!  I so love this set.  One day, I am going to get some barn doors in my house!  I used the cowboy hat from my fave set in the world - WWW.  

This next card was made using my new Tim Holtz Tree Ring Die and EF.  I have been wanting it for some time and it showed up available on Amazon around Valentine's so guess what Hubby got to give me.  This card was made for the Inspiration Challenge on SCS - the inspiration was a special Iris flower.  I had no Iris stamps or dies so I hand cut this one and coated the petals with Gel Medium to give them texture and to be able to shape them better (they kind of feel real too).  I wasn't happy with the center so I covered the whole thing in Snowtex (love that stuff).

This one is my favorite.  It is made with several new images from DRS Designs:  Better Irish Blessings, Silhouette Shamrock Field,  Paper Coffee Cup,  plus a few old shamrock images.  I made the whipped cream with some Heavy Gel Medium mixed with white acrylic paint.  Painted it on some acetate and heated it with my heat gun.  Then I sprinkled it with cinnamon.  Smells and looks awesome.

    Wow! Three amazing cards! I can see why you like that barn door bundle! Fabulous job on that door! Barn doors seem to be all the rage in home decorating these days...(Don't have one...but does a pocket door count? No, I guess not...smile) your flower is amazing! And your Whipped cream looks so real. (Made me want to go eat some whipped cream...It's chilly enough in my house right now for some hot chocolate...and a perfect way to use my whipped cream!)

    Three beautiful mixed media cards, my friend. But I have to agree....your 3rd card is over the top Outstanding!!! I LOVE every single detail and, especially your amazing real whip cream with real cinnamon coffee. Love your sentiment too. TFS Nancy all your fun creations using all your new toys:-) Hugs..

    Three fabulous cards Nancy, super barn doors on the first one and I have just placed an order for the Tim Holtz Tree Ring die because I love it so much - I have just managed to resist the coffee cup stamp - beautiful cards.

    Way to use your great NBUS, Nancy, and use it so effectively! You are the Queen of 3D! Why haven't I seen the tree ring die before? That's cool and so is your lip-smacking whipped cream on your Irish Whisky coffee!! Hugs, Darnell

Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. My tag is made from an old cardboard box top which I peeled down, painted, distressed a bit, and then added some snow medium. My bow is actually a new bow designed by Pamela Lehto (available at Squigglefly tomorrow). Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

 I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

A Covered Bridge, a Shotgun Wedding, Patton Wisdom, and Some Art

 On our recent vaction, hubby and I got back to our historical marker seeking.  This time we visited the Clarkson Covered Bridge. It is super long and very cool.  We also found a website HERE that has a mapped out tour of Alabama where you can visit 7 in one day - a fun trip for a Fall weekend.  This is the only picture I took of the bridge. The day before, we visited the Patton Musuem at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and viewed Ft. Knox from as close as they will let you get. They say there is still a ton of gold in Ft. Knox - trillions of dollars worth.  We liked the Patton Museum.  I don't agree with most of Patton's management style, but do respect that he accomplished much.  I was impressed with some of his leadership statements like this one which I totally agree with: They have some fabulous items at the museum - hubby could have looked for hours and hours if I had let him.
