Last Little Bit of March Green

**Art*Journal*Journey* is one of my favorite places.  I have learned so much about journaling from the participants.  I have bought all kinds of goodies as well - those women are enablers - lol.  I guess that is how it is with new hobbies though - you need the basics (and the cool stuff). THIS post by Alison (Words and Pictures/butterfly) inspired one of my shopping trips (on-line of course) and THIS one by another Alison (Crafttrog's Arty Adventures) lead me to bunches of videos and more purchases (and steeping tea for today's projects).  I learn from every post on **Art*Journal*Journey* plus I get to see pictures of food, treasures, flowers, and architecture from all over the world.  A delight for sure.

Last green posts for the month - I can't wait to see what the theme is for April. All my BAJ journal pages are from Psalms.  I am 55% done with Psalms now!

This one was a base of gesso, layers of watercolor and watery distress ink, sprays of Distress Resist, then a stamp of the River City Rubber Company's Big Ugly Bass in TH Distress Vintage Photo.  I added a bit of green ink on the Ugly Bass and stenciled it in as well using my fave chicken wire stencil.  Added in some Vintage Photo using an Andy Skinner stencil.  I love how the Distress Resist worked on the fish and inks.  The bass is not a sea monster but it just worked for these fun words in Psalms 74 speaking of God's illustrated strength.
I did this next page using Psalms 77 - Confidence in God in Times of Crisis (don't we need that now for sure!).  I did a matching card, but did't shade the leaves green in it.  I did shade the leaves green on my BAJ page and also added in the chicken wire stencil.  This was for a big flower challenge at Splitcoaststampers.com's Florapaloosa weekend (so fun and so many challenges).  The flower is SU! Good Morning Magnolia.  I started it using the ink/spray/smash technique.  Then I splattered on white textured paint and watered down black water color paint.  The white textured paint acted as a resist to my green ink on the flower and I really like that and will try it again.

On the card and the BAJ, I sponged on distress oxide in broken china and black soot (regular distress ink).  The experiment on the BAJ before this one made some cool patterns appear when I sponged.  How cool!

The idea for the page came from THESE socks at Joy of Socks. I also entered this in the Inspiration Site Challenge at Splitcoaststampers.com.
My next page is a hot mess, but I had fun with it.  Watercolor wash stripes, slapped white paint on an embossing folder and stamped with it.  Then some distress ink in Vintage Photo on an Andy Skinner stencil. It still needed something so I added in some SU! Natural Beauty birds (I had that set out from a recent card.

I also made several cards this past week (here are the ones with green since my post is about green).

This was for a SCS challenge to use elements that spell out FLORA.

F - Flowers and Framing
L- Leaves
O - Orange
R - Rabbit
A - I drew in some As and the rabbit is aerial (lol)
The rabbit is covered in Stickles because he was all scratched up (had been in the leftover bin for a few weeks).  Now he is magical and ready to hide eggs.  The flowers and leaves are from the SU! Soft Spring set.

The next card was done for a Flower Fairy Challenge on SCS.  We were instructed to look up our Flower Fairy on the Flower Fairy site.  Then we were supposed to make a card from our flower fairy. I just decided to draw my flower fairy and flower (Nasturtium).
This last one is one I made for my postman/postlady.  It is a thank you card to show my appreciation.  Mail is a happy time again.  I think we had taken it for granted and it has been years since I looked forward to it.  Being stuck at home now, it is fun again (except the bills of course).  I was inspired to do this card by a friend who said she was doing one for her postman.  I told her she should pick some elements and we would do a challenge.  She picked having a postal stamp, vintage theme, and you have to use old stamps. I used the old, retired SU! Natural Beauty stamp set. I stamped the words in green ink, the leaves in orange distress oxide, I had one old postage stamp so it picked my color scheme.  I also used some old bird and a clock stamp I got free in the mail 12 years ago and don't remember ever using.  I covered the card in a light sponge of vintage photo to have more of a vintage look.  I fussy cut the collage elements in the bottom corner.
Stay safe and be well and craft on.

Hugz,

Nancy

  2. What a fabulous post! I am so pleased that you came visiting and prompted me to come here! You have inspired me to get back to my Bible journal - I was given one last year by my hubby but have been a bit timid about using it. I shall be talking to family this afternoon but will be coming back for more inspiration another day and to have look through your blog. I love all of your art here so I have something to look forward to as our weather is about to change here! Stay Safe, Chrisx

  10. Wow, you've done some beautiful pieces lately, Nancy! Thank you for all the green for Art Journal Journey and for your support of my green theme all month long.

I love your beautiful Bible pages. The answers are all there. Wonderful phrases for our times. Your backgrounds are gorgeous! Thank you for a nice things you said about my Psalms collage page. It was your Bible journaling posts that got me interested in reading the Psalms again ;-)

The jumping bunny is cute and funny. The Stickles were a great idea.

Lovely nasturtium and fairy. You draw very well. How do you know your fairy flower? Is there a quiz somewhere? I looked on the Flower Fairy site. Just curious.

That was very thoughtful of your and your friend to thank the postal employees. Lovely card.

    Stay safe and well.

Forest Goodies and Other Projects

Hello Crafty Friends. I just got the Stamperia Forest Paper and Die Cuts in the mail so I had to play with them right away.   I have a combo creation - journal page and card.  On the journal page I used my 6x6 Dina Wakley Journal and laid a base of gesso.  I then used Dina's pastel crayons and some SU! inks and stamps.  Also added in some TH Dress Ink in Vintage Photo since I don't know how to make anything without it  (seriously).   The eagle is a Stamperia Forest die cut and is coated with gesso.  Did a bit of stenciling and distressing to finish the page off.  I am linking this the the **Art*Journal*Journey* September Texture Theme (last day - can't wait to see what October's Theme will be).  The die cut and the little smears add texture to the already very textured page.   I love the blue and green together and was inspired to made a quick card for my Son-in-law who cut down some tree limbs for us the other day.  The paper in the middle is from the Stamperia Forest

A Martini, Peanut Butter Cupakes, and Art

Hello Friends. Today, I have an ecletic mix of drinks, dessert, and art. First, it's T-day somewhere in the world so time for a drink post which I am linking to Elizabeth's Blog - Altered Book Lover.  Last week we had a work related dinner.  When the waitress asked what I wanted to drink, I had a sudden craving for a martini.  I use to love them, but I guess my tastes have changed because I wasn't a fan.  I was a fan of the chips and dips though! And the day before, I brought my Sister's fabulous peanut butter cupcakes.  Mainly because I was craving them and couldn't ask her to make just one..... Over at **Art*Journal*Journey* Elle picked a theme of Books, Cats, and Tea (you can pick one, two or three of the items).  I did a Bible Journal Page in my Journaling Bible - Luke 13:24-25.  After a layer of Gesso, I took a Sharpie pen and drew the kitty, then the narrow door, and then colored the door with Arteza Brush pens. The verse was written with a Micron pen.  This

Milkshake Malt Porter and a Bit of Art

Hello friends and Happy T-day. It has been hit or miss with me lately on T-day posts. The remodel of our house next door has taken our mental and physical energy.  I think a few more weeks and things will be on the contractor instead of us.  Hopefully I will be back to normal by then. My Oldest Darling Daughter asked if we wanted to come for dinner Saturday.  Translation:  go to the store with me and we will bring part of dinner to your house and you cook the rest.  While at the store, I saw one 6 pack of this fun milkshake porter so, of course, I bought it.  It smells wonderful (a hint of chocolate and a hit of malt) and has a light creamy taste.  I would definitely buy it again if I see it.  My son-in-law did not like it, but he is more a  Miller Lite fan.  Now if this had been a whiskey, he would have been all over it.  LOL.  Linking this to Elizabeth's blog for the T-party gang. Darling Daughter had tried her hand at dried pintos, and she rocked them (I will begging for a rep
