More Showing of the Green

Green is so my favorite color.  Since it is the theme at **ART*JOURNAL*JOURNEY* this month, I will be adding it to my bible journaling a lot.

I have also been admiring my friend Christine's use of Magenta Stencils (It's a card days night blog), and I finally bought a few (love them by the way).

So of course I am combining green and Magenta on my creations today and linking them to **ART*JOURNAL*JOURNEY*.

Both pages were made using an ink/spray/smash background of various green inks. The stencils I used are from Magenta (Silhouette 2 Small - the girl, Sunflower, Flying Butterflies, Numbers/Alpha) and Altenew (Stripes).

This first page is from Psalm 34:15-16.  David wrote this one when he pretended to be insane in the presence of Abimelech who drove him out of the region.  David trusted the Lord and praised Him. When I did this page, I thought about how oftentimes, we worry about how tough our lives are when in reality our worries are small comparatively.  Compared to things David or others in the Bible went through, what the people who came before us went through or what others we know are going through.  For instance, when I did my eyes are worn our page the other day, many people told me they were having eye troubles.  Most were having serious eye problems.  My problems were NOT really problems.  Also at that same time, my Pop was have major health issues that I was not aware of.  He is in the hospital now (doing a better).  The Psalm isn't about all that, but these are the thoughts I had when I was doing this page.  The Lord help us through little and big troubles.

I sponged the lady silhouette using Vintage Photo Distress ink and then sprayed her with mist of water.  Then I used a paper towel to blot up the water fast.  The background had previously been dabbed with white acrylic paint over the green ink so that also added a bit of design when the ink came off those spots as well.  The foliage is a stamp from DRS Designs off their Four Flower Background stamp.
The next page has a similar inky base background, but it is much lighter as it was the end of my mixture.  This page centers on Psalm 37:8:  Refrain from anger and give up your rage; do not be agitated -- it can only bring harm.  Some powerful and true words.

I did the left side very busy to represent our thoughts when we are angry, and the right side represents our free flowing mind when we don't have anger.  I sponged the lady silhouette in a cool green to show her calming.
Super easy pages and both made me feel a bit better.

I was lucky enough to get to eat dinner with both my Daughters and all my Grandsons last night after I visited my Pop.  The good news of Pop improving, the happiness at dinner, and time in my bible really did me good. We need days like that!

Thanks for visiting.

Many inky hugz,

Nancy

  2. Green is lovely, always so fresh and full of hope, and your page is beautiful. We often worry too much about little things, but as you say, so many people in the world have real problems, and that makes our seem small in comparison. Hope and trust are important to get us through things. Have a great day, hugs, Valerie

  13. Another two lovely BAJ spreads, Nancy. I especially like the second one, where her thoughts are troubled, then the peace flows through her and out to the world. I love the symbolism. So glad to hear your father is doing better, also. Thanks for sharing this with us at Art Journal Journey using Eileen's theme.

Forest Goodies and Other Projects

Hello Crafty Friends. I just got the Stamperia Forest Paper and Die Cuts in the mail so I had to play with them right away.   I have a combo creation - journal page and card.  On the journal page I used my 6x6 Dina Wakley Journal and laid a base of gesso.  I then used Dina's pastel crayons and some SU! inks and stamps.  Also added in some TH Dress Ink in Vintage Photo since I don't know how to make anything without it  (seriously).   The eagle is a Stamperia Forest die cut and is coated with gesso.  Did a bit of stenciling and distressing to finish the page off.  I am linking this the the **Art*Journal*Journey* September Texture Theme (last day - can't wait to see what October's Theme will be).  The die cut and the little smears add texture to the already very textured page.   I love the blue and green together and was inspired to made a quick card for my Son-in-law who cut down some tree limbs for us the other day.  The paper in the middle is from the Stamperia Forest

A Martini, Peanut Butter Cupakes, and Art

Hello Friends. Today, I have an ecletic mix of drinks, dessert, and art. First, it's T-day somewhere in the world so time for a drink post which I am linking to Elizabeth's Blog - Altered Book Lover.  Last week we had a work related dinner.  When the waitress asked what I wanted to drink, I had a sudden craving for a martini.  I use to love them, but I guess my tastes have changed because I wasn't a fan.  I was a fan of the chips and dips though! And the day before, I brought my Sister's fabulous peanut butter cupcakes.  Mainly because I was craving them and couldn't ask her to make just one..... Over at **Art*Journal*Journey* Elle picked a theme of Books, Cats, and Tea (you can pick one, two or three of the items).  I did a Bible Journal Page in my Journaling Bible - Luke 13:24-25.  After a layer of Gesso, I took a Sharpie pen and drew the kitty, then the narrow door, and then colored the door with Arteza Brush pens. The verse was written with a Micron pen.  This

Milkshake Malt Porter and a Bit of Art

Hello friends and Happy T-day. It has been hit or miss with me lately on T-day posts. The remodel of our house next door has taken our mental and physical energy.  I think a few more weeks and things will be on the contractor instead of us.  Hopefully I will be back to normal by then. My Oldest Darling Daughter asked if we wanted to come for dinner Saturday.  Translation:  go to the store with me and we will bring part of dinner to your house and you cook the rest.  While at the store, I saw one 6 pack of this fun milkshake porter so, of course, I bought it.  It smells wonderful (a hint of chocolate and a hit of malt) and has a light creamy taste.  I would definitely buy it again if I see it.  My son-in-law did not like it, but he is more a  Miller Lite fan.  Now if this had been a whiskey, he would have been all over it.  LOL.  Linking this to Elizabeth's blog for the T-party gang. Darling Daughter had tried her hand at dried pintos, and she rocked them (I will begging for a rep
