Artist Inspiration and Some Much Loved Old Stamps

Hello crafty friends.

I really needed to relax this weekend, and I was able to do it.  I finished a very good Debbie Macomber book, If Not For You, cleaned up my car, and got in a couple of naps.  I did a few more BAJ pages as well.

I got a bit adventurous with this first one. It was inspired by THIS creation of  Freidensreich Hundertwasser. The prompt came from the MIX challenge on Splitcoaststampers.com and the flower theme at **ART*JOURNAL*JOURNEY*.  Freidensreich was very into recycling so I did several layers of tissue paper I was going to throw out and the tea bag label from my green tea.  Lots of gesso including one thick layer over an Andy Skinner stencil.  I painted the flowers with Arteza gouache paints and metallic Zig Painty pen.
Psalm 146:1-2.  Hallelujah! My soul, praise the Lord. I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing to my God as long as I live.  Beautiful words.

My second creation was a case of THIS card by this week's Featured Stamper (71st Street).  I started by loading up the old SU! Medallion stamp with some Dina Wakley paint, spritzing with water and them slapping it down on the page.  I also used the leftover paint to make some ink/spray/smash pages and then stamped and fussy cut the flowers, leaves, and butterflies.
Psalm 141:8 - Lord, my Lord.  I seek refuge in you.  I have needed to seek refuge in Him a lot this last few months!

The flowers, butterfly and leaves are from the Natural Beauty SU! set - one of my favorites.

Here is the card standing by itself.
I stamped one more time using the Medallion stamp and it didn't work out so well.  I went with it though and created a little background for this sweet paper doll.
I wasn't going to share it, but I kind of like it.  It is growing on me anyway.  Twenty one more pages in Psalms.  I thought I was closer to done, but it is a long book and so full of lovely verses.

Hope you had a good weekend as well.

Hugz,

Nancy

  7. Ooh, you have one of those lovely bibles. I almost bought one a few weeks ago, when they were greatly reduced, but the shipping to the UK was as much as the cost of the bible, so I decided it wasn't good 'stewarding' of my resources. They're impossible to find over here.
Your pages are amazing. I really need to bookmark your blog. The card is gorgeous, too :-)

  11. That card is lovely. I like the strong colours you have used for the flowers. Really very striking and I like how you have carried it over into your Bible journalling.
All the artwork you have featured shows a great deal of thought and insight.
    Hugs, Neet xx

Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. My tag is made from an old cardboard box top which I peeled down, painted, distressed a bit, and then added some snow medium. My bow is actually a new bow designed by Pamela Lehto (available at Squigglefly tomorrow). Please join us in the Pattie's Creations Tag Challenge - there are lovely DT tags for inspiration and Pattie gives away wonderful prizes! Hugz!
It's time for the New Release Blog Hop at Dude Time Doodles ! I am thrilled to show off Elmer Elf - just one of the four new images. I love them all and plan to make Christmas cards with every single one of them. Be sure and pick them up soon in the store if you like them because all the Dude Time Doodles Images will be retiring in the next few weeks - sniff, sniff! If you came to my blog from Sharon's amazing blog you can continue on to Mags who has another wonderful creation to show you. Dude Time Doodles blog hops are easy as you can hop on at any point and just continue around. Be sure and leave comments because one of the DT members is the mystery host/hostess and one of the commenters on their blog will win free images from the store. Hugz!!

A Bit of Tea, Horses, and a Cowboy

I love when my children follow in my footsteps and beyond (only the cool footsteps, of course).   My daughter, Allie, has developed a love of tea.  She sent me this picture over the weekend of her having tea in her newly remodelled bedroom.   She was drinking Breakfast in Paris tea in one of her favorite thrift store mugs.  This is my ticket to the T-day gathering over at Elizabeth's blog .  To join us, all you have to do is have a drink related post (can be any type of drink).   The neighborhood horses have been gathering in our backyard for some reason. Our horse refuses to come up near our house because the lady who owns all these horses gives her much better treats.  They all jump the fences and visit everyone.  The mule in the picture is actually named after me because I named one of cows after the neighbor (he paid me back - lol). I gave them apples when they came on Sunday, and they have come back every day since - lol....
