Alice, Flowers and a few Ghosts

Hello crafty friends.

I have been watching a lot of videos and trying out new things in my mixed media journey.  I have found a few friends who have been delving in as well and this month we have encouraged each other to do altered playing cards.  We watched these videos:

I loved Nina's Alice card and purchased the napkins she used.  I ended up with two cards as you see here.  I ussed gesso on the playing cards and put the napkins down on them.  Next, I added some texture paste and gold paint, printed off quotes, gold paint, some distressing and a fun bottle button I have had for many years.

Once my cards were done, I wasn't sure what to do with them. I saw a cool open journal in the SCS Inspiration challenge and it reminded me these would look great in my new Dina Wakley Journal.  Since we are doing when it is hot in the **Art*Journal*Journey* monthly theme, I added in some Summer flowers, leaves and butterflies plus some of my hot coffee on the edges which reacted cool with TH Distress Vintage Photo  ink.  The postcard, flowers, and leaves are all from the Stamperia Alice paper pack.
Here are a few cards I have made lately.

This one is for the featured stamper challenge posted today on Splitcoaststampers.com.  The Featured Stamper is Debby (limedoodle) and HERE is her card I cased.  The background was salted after I put down my watercolors (the Splitcoaststampers.com watercolor challenge this week was salted backgrounds).  I added in some texture paste and gold paint as well.
This card was an ink/spray/smash background and the SU! Petal Pallet stamp set.  The challenge I entered it in also had us using ribbon or washi tape so I added in a bit of washi tape.
A fun ghost card made with some new DRS Designs Halloween images and an inks/spray/smash background.
Hope you are doing well!  Many hugz,

Nancy

  2. That Alice page is amazing Nancy. Wow. I think you were smart to buy those napkins. They make a beautiful background. I love the little bottle too. Thanks for joining us at Art Journal Journey. It is much appreciated. And you made some wonderful cards. I do enjoy Halloween and I love the ghosts in the sky. Pretty soon for me. 9. Goodness Nancy, I was sure I had been here and left a comment, but that is not the case. Your Alice page is incredible. I'm in awe of how the coffee interacted with the ink. I also love the flowers and how you incorporated the postcard and background papers, too. This is a really fun entry for Erika's theme at Art Journal Journey. Thanks for joining us again.

You made some incredibly beautiful cards, too, dear.

  10. Your Alice cards look terrific on the page and I smiled to see that you painted with hot coffee to keep up with the HOT theme.
I love your three cards. The illustrations on the first two are just right with the words and I think the third with all the floating ghosts has to be my favourite especially with the witch going off on her travels on her usual method of transport. And I have to mention the purple and gold background, it's marvellous.
Thanks very much for your lovely comment on my blog and I hope you will come to visit another time.

  12. The three cards are absolutely lovely - I think the lavender just about wins for me (because I adore lavender) but they are all beautifully done. The misty background for the ghosts is definitely spooky! Your Alice page is a delight - so many layers of stories and so much imagination - just like the book itself.

Forest Goodies and Other Projects

Hello Crafty Friends. I just got the Stamperia Forest Paper and Die Cuts in the mail so I had to play with them right away.   I have a combo creation - journal page and card.  On the journal page I used my 6x6 Dina Wakley Journal and laid a base of gesso.  I then used Dina's pastel crayons and some SU! inks and stamps.  Also added in some TH Dress Ink in Vintage Photo since I don't know how to make anything without it  (seriously).   The eagle is a Stamperia Forest die cut and is coated with gesso.  Did a bit of stenciling and distressing to finish the page off.  I am linking this the the **Art*Journal*Journey* September Texture Theme (last day - can't wait to see what October's Theme will be).  The die cut and the little smears add texture to the already very textured page.   I love the blue and green together and was inspired to made a quick card for my Son-in-law who cut down some tree limbs for us the other day.  The paper in the middle is from the Stamperia Forest

A Martini, Peanut Butter Cupakes, and Art

Hello Friends. Today, I have an ecletic mix of drinks, dessert, and art. First, it's T-day somewhere in the world so time for a drink post which I am linking to Elizabeth's Blog - Altered Book Lover.  Last week we had a work related dinner.  When the waitress asked what I wanted to drink, I had a sudden craving for a martini.  I use to love them, but I guess my tastes have changed because I wasn't a fan.  I was a fan of the chips and dips though! And the day before, I brought my Sister's fabulous peanut butter cupcakes.  Mainly because I was craving them and couldn't ask her to make just one..... Over at **Art*Journal*Journey* Elle picked a theme of Books, Cats, and Tea (you can pick one, two or three of the items).  I did a Bible Journal Page in my Journaling Bible - Luke 13:24-25.  After a layer of Gesso, I took a Sharpie pen and drew the kitty, then the narrow door, and then colored the door with Arteza Brush pens. The verse was written with a Micron pen.  This

Milkshake Malt Porter and a Bit of Art

Hello friends and Happy T-day. It has been hit or miss with me lately on T-day posts. The remodel of our house next door has taken our mental and physical energy.  I think a few more weeks and things will be on the contractor instead of us.  Hopefully I will be back to normal by then. My Oldest Darling Daughter asked if we wanted to come for dinner Saturday.  Translation:  go to the store with me and we will bring part of dinner to your house and you cook the rest.  While at the store, I saw one 6 pack of this fun milkshake porter so, of course, I bought it.  It smells wonderful (a hint of chocolate and a hit of malt) and has a light creamy taste.  I would definitely buy it again if I see it.  My son-in-law did not like it, but he is more a  Miller Lite fan.  Now if this had been a whiskey, he would have been all over it.  LOL.  Linking this to Elizabeth's blog for the T-party gang. Darling Daughter had tried her hand at dried pintos, and she rocked them (I will begging for a rep
