Paper Towels, Ink and a Few Bees!

Hello crafty friends!  

I created a BAJ page yesterday after not doing one for over a month!  I had some MOJO issues - you know how it is....

I created this for the following challenges:

I tried to get very close to the stripes in the inspiration photo but changed them up a bit and added in a pretty embossing on vellum on the tag and card.  The tag is attached to ,my BAJ page.  It is made from torn paper towels used to mop up ink and paint (done by my darling Grandson, Lewis - we had a play day last week).  I embossed the edges a bit to match the embossing on the velum (DRS Designs Count your blessings stamp).  The leaves are also from the same paper towel creation and they were stamped and embossed as well.   

My BAJ page is Luke 14: 13-14 but really the whole of Luke 14 which is about humility.  It teaches us much.  Much about our own motivations and how we should never look for what is in it for ourselves.  I love that He encourages to invite the poor and sick to dinner.  I used a fork cut from a Trader Joe's paper bag.  My daughters and I drove the 1 hour to our nearest one last week and we so enjoyed our time together.  I stocked up on more wine, pasta, salsa verde, and yummy frozen dinners.  I knew I would find a fun thing to use that fork for and this verse is perfect for it!  The page needed something as the tag kind of overwhelmed it so I added in some sponged sunflowers (Magenta stencil). 

Here are a few more of my cards and such that I have done recently:

On this one I just inked up a stencil and slapped it down on the paper.  Stamped the Large Script Merry Christmas from DRS Designs and then tied on some silver thread.  This was for a DTGD20 challenge.

This one was for another DTGD20 challenge.  I went vintage and did an altered playing card and some paper aging.  Also used a vintage book page sent to me by a friend.  I love this one.

This one is for today's Featured Stamper Challenge on SCS.  I cased a lovely card by Mary EB.  I decided to go mixed media since I am all about some texture these days.  I used gesso to apply torn botanical tissues to a piece o yellow card stock.  Then I applied crackle paste to a honeycomb stencil.  Splattered on some black and yellow paint and then edged everything in Vintage Photo Distress Ink. The wreath is a Tim Holtz thinlet I sprinkled with some glitter.  I added in a bunch of REDlead bees and used a DRS Designs Sentiment (cut up Bee Happy Its your Birthday).  

This last card is also from a paper towel mop up done by Lewis but it was glued together by my Grandson, Hollis.  He picked lighter colors than Lewis did.  I used it in the background, which I softened up with a Gina K snowflake stencil, and die cut a Tim Holtz snowflake that I splattered with Snowtex.  A bit of chunky glitter and a sewn in Merry (SU!) and it was done.  I love the texture.  This was also for the MMJ04 challenge on Splitcoaststampers.com.

    Oh Nancy, I have missed you SO much. I was delighted to see you had posted today and so many lovely entries, too. I totally enjoyed your Bible Art Journal page. I loved how you used paper towels, too. Like me, it appears nothing goes to waste at your home, either. This is a beautiful entry for Alison's theme at Art Journal Journey. I loved the tag, the paper towel leaf, and of course the Trader Joe's fork. I'd LOVE it if Trader Joe's made it to Kansas. I got exposed when I was in CA one year and shopped there.

    Your cards are beautiful and that last one may be my favorite.

    So nice to see you blog...
    Your creations are delightful especially the journal page and the bee card. The tag on the journal page with embossing to match is one in a million. The card along with it looks fab.
    The last card has so much character and how nice that it has been done with your grandkids as well.

    Fabulous makes Nancy, I love the stripes but the Bee Happy and Snowflake ones are my favourites, great texture on both of them.

Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

 I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

A Covered Bridge, a Shotgun Wedding, Patton Wisdom, and Some Art

 On our recent vaction, hubby and I got back to our historical marker seeking.  This time we visited the Clarkson Covered Bridge. It is super long and very cool.  We also found a website HERE that has a mapped out tour of Alabama where you can visit 7 in one day - a fun trip for a Fall weekend.  This is the only picture I took of the bridge. The day before, we visited the Patton Musuem at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and viewed Ft. Knox from as close as they will let you get. They say there is still a ton of gold in Ft. Knox - trillions of dollars worth.  We liked the Patton Museum.  I don't agree with most of Patton's management style, but do respect that he accomplished much.  I was impressed with some of his leadership statements like this one which I totally agree with: They have some fabulous items at the museum - hubby could have looked for hours and hours if I had let him. They have planes, tanks, and other vehicles there too so you can see exactly what ...
