Spiders, Farming, a Birthday, and Some Fun with Alice

 Hello friends.

I am so excited about Fall being around the corner.  When I go outside it is still hot, but I feel just a hint of the cooler weather around the corner (ok  - I know it is only in my head, but I still love that first Fall feel so much).

On the first creation, I journaled my recent spider adventure in Allie's chicken coop.  I love how fun this page is with the Tim Holtz spider web stamps and die (please ignore the typos - I am not redoing it so I am ignoring them - all my scrapbook pages from this week have at least one but I am embracing them rather than fixing them - lol).  I colored the web, spiders, and chickens with watercolors and splattered on the leftover purple.  The page is 8 1/2 by 11 as that is my favorite scrapbook page size. For extra fun, I added in some crackle medium using a chicken wire stencil which qualifies to share on **Art*Journal*Journey*.  This month we are adding texture to our journal creations.

I never thought I would be sad about killing a spider, but this one got me!

My oldest daughter turned 30 this year and I decided to make her a fun card with lots of pages.  I forgot how fun and easy these are to do.  She absolutely loved it!  I included pictures from her first birthday, a few growing up pictures, and pictures from this past year.  I gave it to her at a wine tasting with all her friends and I included pictures of her and each of them as well.

I embossed the SU! sentiment to kind of match the pretty paper.

A few more scrapbook pages done this week after a giant peanut picking adventure.  I spent 8 hours boiling the peanuts yesterday.  I did them Cajun flavored and they came out wonderfully for my first time making them. The hat and fence are new DRS Designs images.

The hat in the first farm page is the one from the chair in the image on this card using new DRS Designs images.  I love the new Thanksgiving image. You can skip the Happy Thanksgiving and use it for other times.

This is the tag/pocket card I made for my DTGD Challenge on Splitcoaststampers.com.  I used paper from Stamperia and a lovely butterfly image.  So many patterns and they just worked so well together.  I love Stamperia paper packs.

Off to create something else since today is a holiday and I can do whatever I want - lol!  Hope you enjoy today as well.

Hugz,

Nancy

  4. OMGosh. This is a cornucopia of great art today, dear Nancy. How incredibly sad about the pet spider. I hope your children don't get too upset and find another one they can feed and grow large and strong. I agree that this has a LOT of texture. Thanks for sharing it with us at Art Journal Journey.

Your daughter's birthday card is amazing. I love the gold you used. I had NO idea about peanuts. I've been through a corn maze, picked pumpkins at a pumpkin far, but never experienced peanut picking. That was something new to me. Those scrapbook pages were fabulous.

  6. So many wonderful art pieces Nancy. The spider in the chicken coop is a fun idea for a page. And a good page too. I am so glad you shared it with us at Art Journal Journey. Thanks And I am ready for fall too. Especially these early days with warmer temps but heat sleeping at night. And I’ve never known anyone to go peanut picking but it sounds fun. Hugs Erika

  10. What special cards you have created here! and fabulouse job with the art journals.
You have absolutely made my day...when I went into my mail and saw all the cards that commented on at SCS. I haven't looked at your comments yet, It's going to be my next stop. I'm a little behind with checking my mail because of computer issues. Or I guess I should say ISP issues. We changed our ISP today, and what a difference with our net. So far, it has seemed to help all our computer issues. So I can play catch up.

Forest Goodies and Other Projects

Hello Crafty Friends. I just got the Stamperia Forest Paper and Die Cuts in the mail so I had to play with them right away.   I have a combo creation - journal page and card.  On the journal page I used my 6x6 Dina Wakley Journal and laid a base of gesso.  I then used Dina's pastel crayons and some SU! inks and stamps.  Also added in some TH Dress Ink in Vintage Photo since I don't know how to make anything without it  (seriously).   The eagle is a Stamperia Forest die cut and is coated with gesso.  Did a bit of stenciling and distressing to finish the page off.  I am linking this the the **Art*Journal*Journey* September Texture Theme (last day - can't wait to see what October's Theme will be).  The die cut and the little smears add texture to the already very textured page.   I love the blue and green together and was inspired to made a quick card for my Son-in-law who cut down some tree limbs for us the other day.  The paper in the middle is from the Stamperia Forest

A Martini, Peanut Butter Cupakes, and Art

Hello Friends. Today, I have an ecletic mix of drinks, dessert, and art. First, it's T-day somewhere in the world so time for a drink post which I am linking to Elizabeth's Blog - Altered Book Lover.  Last week we had a work related dinner.  When the waitress asked what I wanted to drink, I had a sudden craving for a martini.  I use to love them, but I guess my tastes have changed because I wasn't a fan.  I was a fan of the chips and dips though! And the day before, I brought my Sister's fabulous peanut butter cupcakes.  Mainly because I was craving them and couldn't ask her to make just one..... Over at **Art*Journal*Journey* Elle picked a theme of Books, Cats, and Tea (you can pick one, two or three of the items).  I did a Bible Journal Page in my Journaling Bible - Luke 13:24-25.  After a layer of Gesso, I took a Sharpie pen and drew the kitty, then the narrow door, and then colored the door with Arteza Brush pens. The verse was written with a Micron pen.  This

Milkshake Malt Porter and a Bit of Art

Hello friends and Happy T-day. It has been hit or miss with me lately on T-day posts. The remodel of our house next door has taken our mental and physical energy.  I think a few more weeks and things will be on the contractor instead of us.  Hopefully I will be back to normal by then. My Oldest Darling Daughter asked if we wanted to come for dinner Saturday.  Translation:  go to the store with me and we will bring part of dinner to your house and you cook the rest.  While at the store, I saw one 6 pack of this fun milkshake porter so, of course, I bought it.  It smells wonderful (a hint of chocolate and a hit of malt) and has a light creamy taste.  I would definitely buy it again if I see it.  My son-in-law did not like it, but he is more a  Miller Lite fan.  Now if this had been a whiskey, he would have been all over it.  LOL.  Linking this to Elizabeth's blog for the T-party gang. Darling Daughter had tried her hand at dried pintos, and she rocked them (I will begging for a rep
