Lamentations MIX

I am doing the book of Lamentations in my BAJ right now.  I find it very therapeutic in these times which seem sad for us but seem much brighter when compared to the feelings of the Israelites in 586 BC!  This book is so full of deep feelings, despair, understanding of sin, and then hope.  Hope is what we all want when we are in times of trouble.  It is also masterfully written with special numbers and verse designs which are all way above my head.

For example, I read that the first 4 chapters are written as acrostics.  1, 2 and 4 have 22 verses which correspond to the 22 letters of he Hebrew alphabet.  The first lines start with first letter of the alphabet and each line after starts with the next.  Chapter 3 has 66 verses and each letter of the alphabet is used in three lines which is soooo cool.

Anyway, I was inspired to do this page after seeing THIS great journal layout by Kath Stewart, Wendy's **ART*JOURNAL*JOURNEY* bird theme, a dot theme on the Ways to Use IT challenge on SCS, and a falling leaves theme on the CAS challenge on SCS.  Yes, I need inspiration from multiple sources these days.

Here is a closer look.

I used one of my favorite old SU! sets, Natural Beauty, as it has great birds, leaves, flowers and word stamps. I used several stencils as well.

I also have a card to share using some new DRS Designs stamps that will be available in the DRS Designs store next week.  I love the new large Happy Retirement stamp, and the new bowling themed stamps they have come out with are so fun.  I met with a Retirement advisor last week so putting our final plan together (keeping my fingers crossed).

Hope your week has been going well and you have fun weekend plans.  I am going to be cleaning up the craft room as it is a horrible mess and getting the last of my Christmas shopping done as they say you need to get it done super early this year if ordering on-line (which I am).

Hugz, Nancy

  2. That is really fascinating about that book of the Bible Nancy. I didn't know that either. And wow, your page is an amazing autumn page. I love the circles, they almost canbe falling leaves too. I think I finished my shopping, except for my mom. I also decided to do it early with this Covid. My mom has no short term memory and lives in an assisted living so I don't dare visit right now. I am sending her a holiday plant but will wait and shop for her when I can see her again. That is one thing so hard about covid. Take care of yourself. Hugs-Erika

  3. I found it so interesting what you wrote about Lamentations Nancy. I've been working my way through the bible this year, and the old testament is quite hard to read at times, it really was barbaric back then. I suppose things haven't changed that much in some parts of the world though.
Your page is lovely with its Autumn theme, and that's a great retirement card too.
It's going to be a quiet Christmas here!

  4. Fabulous journal pages Nancy, I love the leaves and birds. A super card, lovely stamps - the bowling stamps would be good for all ages and ideal for those difficult masculine makes.

  7. Gorgeous and thoughtful journal pages, my friend. Love the retirement card and perfect for someone who loves to bowl. So excited for you that retirement is getting closer. Can you believe I will have been retired the end of the year for 15 years...I know I can't. Time flies by and we are still in good health and enjoying doing whatever on our schedule...including naps whenever we need it:-) You will love the extra time for crafting too, gardening and anything your heart desires. Stay safe and Creative...and enjoy the Christmas season doing whatever is safe! Love and Hugs...Nancy

Forest Goodies and Other Projects

Hello Crafty Friends. I just got the Stamperia Forest Paper and Die Cuts in the mail so I had to play with them right away.   I have a combo creation - journal page and card.  On the journal page I used my 6x6 Dina Wakley Journal and laid a base of gesso.  I then used Dina's pastel crayons and some SU! inks and stamps.  Also added in some TH Dress Ink in Vintage Photo since I don't know how to make anything without it  (seriously).   The eagle is a Stamperia Forest die cut and is coated with gesso.  Did a bit of stenciling and distressing to finish the page off.  I am linking this the the **Art*Journal*Journey* September Texture Theme (last day - can't wait to see what October's Theme will be).  The die cut and the little smears add texture to the already very textured page.   I love the blue and green together and was inspired to made a quick card for my Son-in-law who cut down some tree limbs for us the other day.  The paper in the middle is from the Stamperia Forest

A Martini, Peanut Butter Cupakes, and Art

Hello Friends. Today, I have an ecletic mix of drinks, dessert, and art. First, it's T-day somewhere in the world so time for a drink post which I am linking to Elizabeth's Blog - Altered Book Lover.  Last week we had a work related dinner.  When the waitress asked what I wanted to drink, I had a sudden craving for a martini.  I use to love them, but I guess my tastes have changed because I wasn't a fan.  I was a fan of the chips and dips though! And the day before, I brought my Sister's fabulous peanut butter cupcakes.  Mainly because I was craving them and couldn't ask her to make just one..... Over at **Art*Journal*Journey* Elle picked a theme of Books, Cats, and Tea (you can pick one, two or three of the items).  I did a Bible Journal Page in my Journaling Bible - Luke 13:24-25.  After a layer of Gesso, I took a Sharpie pen and drew the kitty, then the narrow door, and then colored the door with Arteza Brush pens. The verse was written with a Micron pen.  This

Milkshake Malt Porter and a Bit of Art

Hello friends and Happy T-day. It has been hit or miss with me lately on T-day posts. The remodel of our house next door has taken our mental and physical energy.  I think a few more weeks and things will be on the contractor instead of us.  Hopefully I will be back to normal by then. My Oldest Darling Daughter asked if we wanted to come for dinner Saturday.  Translation:  go to the store with me and we will bring part of dinner to your house and you cook the rest.  While at the store, I saw one 6 pack of this fun milkshake porter so, of course, I bought it.  It smells wonderful (a hint of chocolate and a hit of malt) and has a light creamy taste.  I would definitely buy it again if I see it.  My son-in-law did not like it, but he is more a  Miller Lite fan.  Now if this had been a whiskey, he would have been all over it.  LOL.  Linking this to Elizabeth's blog for the T-party gang. Darling Daughter had tried her hand at dried pintos, and she rocked them (I will begging for a rep
