An Expresso Martini, a Fun and Helpful Book, and a Juicy Halloween Card

Hello Friends!

Special cheers to the T-day gang who meet every week at Elizabeth's Blog, Altered Book Lover.

This was my first and last Expresso Martini.  It looked better than it tasted.

We were toasting my daughter Crystal's 31st birthday (she is on the right).  Their drinks were off to the side.  Allie had a chai-tini and Cystal had water.  She said she was saving her calories for a slice of chocolate cake.  We had a lovely time.

I read a great book this past week.  It was written by Fredrik Backman, and called  Anxious People.

The ending totally surprised me, and I loved the book - every twist and turn and there were a lot of them.  All along the way, there are words of wisdom for anyone who has questioned their decision-making, parenting, life-choices, success, plans, and/or general sanity.  I definitely see why our small library has three copies -  everyone should read this book. I felt better about life after reading it.

Here is my card for the week - all images are from DRS Designs.
Thanks for dropping by!

Hugz,

Nancy

  3. It looks like those gorgeous girls were having a great time! I would be smiling, too, if I was hoping for chocolate cake! Thanks for the book recommendation, I will look for it on Amazon, I need to read on my Kindle these days as I can enlarge the print. And the card is boo-tiful, Halloween is coming nearer! Have a great week, stay safe, happy T day, hugs, Valerie

  4. Your girls are gorgeous Nancy. I'm glad to got to celebrate with them. I find it shocking as my daughter will be 30 next month. She can't possibly be that old, nor can I. Smile. I've read some Fredrick Backman but not this one. He's a good writer, isn't he? It's been awhile so maybe I should check out this one. And fun Halloween card too. It looks like all has been well, and I hope your T day is too. hugs-Erika

  10. I'll begin by saying I have never heard of that author or that book, but it sounds like something every person should probably read. I fell in love with your Halloween card. I am surprised how soon this holiday will be here. It's a sad and rather rude reminder of how time is flying, much like the witch in the stamp.

I saved the best for last. You have two lovely daughters and I'm glad they were both in the same photo together. I don't think I've seen Crystal before, so I am wishing her a belated joyous 31st birthday. That Espresso Martini looks wonderful. Too bad it didn't taste as good as it looks. Thank for sharing your drink, your card, and your book with us for T this Tuesday, dear Nancy.

  16. Congratulations to your daughter! And cheers! The expresso Martini looked interesting so I looked it up. It's not really a Martini as it's made of Vodka, Kahlua and coffee. But it sounds yummy. I love the glass. It makes me think I'm drunk already. Such fun!
The book sounds interesting. Is it fiction or non-fiction?
    Happy belated T-Day,
    Hugs,

    1. Thanks, Lisca. The book is fiction, but they way it is written, it is a positive and motiving book containing advice that you don't really know you are getting. That is why I say everyone should read it. Here is a snip from the first page: "Because there's such an unbelievable amount that we're all supposed to be able to cope with these days. You're supposed to have a job, and somewhere to live, and a family, and you're supposed to pay taxes and have clean underwear and remember the password to your (cuss word omitted) Wi-Fi. So of us never manage to get the chaos under control, so our lives simply carry on, the world spinning through space at two million miles an hour while we bounce about on its surface like so many lost socks."

  17. I love coffee flavoured drinks but I think the martini being in the coffee might spoil it for me lol. Great halloween card too! Happy belated T day Elle/EOTC xx

Forest Goodies and Other Projects

Hello Crafty Friends. I just got the Stamperia Forest Paper and Die Cuts in the mail so I had to play with them right away.   I have a combo creation - journal page and card.  On the journal page I used my 6x6 Dina Wakley Journal and laid a base of gesso.  I then used Dina's pastel crayons and some SU! inks and stamps.  Also added in some TH Dress Ink in Vintage Photo since I don't know how to make anything without it  (seriously).   The eagle is a Stamperia Forest die cut and is coated with gesso.  Did a bit of stenciling and distressing to finish the page off.  I am linking this the the **Art*Journal*Journey* September Texture Theme (last day - can't wait to see what October's Theme will be).  The die cut and the little smears add texture to the already very textured page.   I love the blue and green together and was inspired to made a quick card for my Son-in-law who cut down some tree limbs for us the other day.  The paper in the middle is from the Stamperia Forest

A Martini, Peanut Butter Cupakes, and Art

Hello Friends. Today, I have an ecletic mix of drinks, dessert, and art. First, it's T-day somewhere in the world so time for a drink post which I am linking to Elizabeth's Blog - Altered Book Lover.  Last week we had a work related dinner.  When the waitress asked what I wanted to drink, I had a sudden craving for a martini.  I use to love them, but I guess my tastes have changed because I wasn't a fan.  I was a fan of the chips and dips though! And the day before, I brought my Sister's fabulous peanut butter cupcakes.  Mainly because I was craving them and couldn't ask her to make just one..... Over at **Art*Journal*Journey* Elle picked a theme of Books, Cats, and Tea (you can pick one, two or three of the items).  I did a Bible Journal Page in my Journaling Bible - Luke 13:24-25.  After a layer of Gesso, I took a Sharpie pen and drew the kitty, then the narrow door, and then colored the door with Arteza Brush pens. The verse was written with a Micron pen.  This

Milkshake Malt Porter and a Bit of Art

Hello friends and Happy T-day. It has been hit or miss with me lately on T-day posts. The remodel of our house next door has taken our mental and physical energy.  I think a few more weeks and things will be on the contractor instead of us.  Hopefully I will be back to normal by then. My Oldest Darling Daughter asked if we wanted to come for dinner Saturday.  Translation:  go to the store with me and we will bring part of dinner to your house and you cook the rest.  While at the store, I saw one 6 pack of this fun milkshake porter so, of course, I bought it.  It smells wonderful (a hint of chocolate and a hit of malt) and has a light creamy taste.  I would definitely buy it again if I see it.  My son-in-law did not like it, but he is more a  Miller Lite fan.  Now if this had been a whiskey, he would have been all over it.  LOL.  Linking this to Elizabeth's blog for the T-party gang. Darling Daughter had tried her hand at dried pintos, and she rocked them (I will begging for a rep
