Cookies, Wine, a New Diet, and Pretty Girl on a Horse

Hello friends, and happy T-day.

Gone are the days of cookies, sweets, and wine - at least until I can get this holiday weight gain off - lol!

Even our General Manager at work sent sweets to everyone.  I loved this box of ginger cookies decorated like a water heater and the Rheem logo. Perfect treat, and a very sweet letter he sent.  I am sure this accounted for at least one of the lbs I gained.

Thee next goodies may have resulted in a few more of my extra lbs - especially if you could see all cheese, dips crackers and chocolate that went with it.  It was a very good wine and it is my ticket to Elizabeth's T-day play date where we all share something related to drinks (of any kind).
These days it is mostly water for me, and I am eating tons of veggies and fruits too.

Last night, my Grandson, Lewis, wanted to make some cards.  He found my brayer and wanted to learn how to use it.  I showed him how I use it, and he had a blast with it.  To clean it off, I used an uncompleted page in my journal.  It reminded me of a western page so I ran with it and did this page in my journal.  I may or may not have watched Yellowstone recently....

This is my daughter, Allie.  She recently went to Tennesse a week ago and posted this picture on Facebook.  I had to "steal" a copy since was perfect for this page.  It fits Erika's Lets Face It theme over at **Art*Journal*Journey*

Hope you have a great week!

Hugz,

Nancy

  5. Good morning Nancy-I love your journal page for faces It amazes me after I hit 50 years old (years ago smiles) how the weight just comes on so fast. We didn't overeat over the holidays since it was just the two of us-but I did make some treats for us and now I need to lose the pounds I gained too. Nice gifts, and how fun your grandson enjoyed creating-Happy T wishes Kathy

  6. I gained some weight over the holidays, too, but I think it'll drop off as I return to my normal eating habits. I hope your daughter enjoyed Tennessee. I'm in Memphis and am always happy to see photos of folks having fun in our state.

    Happy T Tuesday!

  7. Ah great minds, I have given up sugar so no treats for me! I am also taking it easy with fruit because of all the fructose but I am looking forward to some homemade soup for dinner. Love your journal page, it reminds me I need to catch up on Yellowstone! Warm Winter Wishes and Happy New Year T Day Elle/EOTC xx

  10. I love your journal page!!! The photo of your daughter is great.
Didn't you know that calories over the holidays don't count? That's what my husband always tells me...

  11. Yes, we have all put on a few pounds I think. But it's nice to indulge every once in a while. Once my stash of goodies is finished, we will go back to normal healthy eating. And on Friday the gym club starts up again, so I will get more exercise too. It all helps.
I love your journal page. Especially the colors.
    Happy T-Day,
    Stay safe,
    Hugs,

  12. I love the background and all the colors in your journal page. I know what you mean about holiday weight gain. I lost 7 lbs from being sick and gained it all back in a week from eating holiday food. Best wishes with the fruit and veggie diet.
    Happy Tea Day,
    Kate

  13. I'm with you and those few holiday pounds. I don't think the hubby appreciated salad and some grilled chicken for supper though. Smile. And that cookie is a fun shape. And thanks for the page at AJJ. It works great. Your daughter looks like she visited a dude ranch. It's a great photo. I love the face! (and its expression). Hope it was a great T day. Hugs-Erika

  14. It's not fair that cookies, candy, and other goodies are filled with calories and fruit/veggies have few. It should be the other way around. Cute Western page with your daughter. Happy T Day

  18. Those Christmas treats somehow seem less like treats after Christmas don't they? My weight is OK but my sugar levels have definitely suffered! Your page for Erika's theme at AJJ is absolutely wonderful and love how it came about! Good luck with your healthy regime. Hugs, Chrisx

  19. Sorry I'm late visiting. I've had no internet or phone since last Monday, and am just now playing catch up. I haven't been on the scales in months, but the way I've been eating lately, I'm sure I've ALSO put on the lbs. What a nice gift from your boss and the card was great, too.

Your wine looks great. I bet it tasted good, along with all the cheeses, dips, and crackers that must have accompanied it. Thank for sharing it with us for T this past week, dear.

LOVED the journal page you shared. Nice use of the brayer (I'm brayer challenged) and a great page for Erika's theme at AJJ, too, dear. Hope you had a great holiday.

Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. My tag is made from an old cardboard box top which I peeled down, painted, distressed a bit, and then added some snow medium. My bow is actually a new bow designed by Pamela Lehto (available at Squigglefly tomorrow). Please join us in the Pattie's Creations Tag Challenge - there are lovely DT tags for inspiration and Pattie gives away wonderful prizes! Hugz!

Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

A Covered Bridge, a Shotgun Wedding, Patton Wisdom, and Some Art

On our recent vaction, hubby and I got back to our historical marker seeking.  This time we visited the Clarkson Covered Bridge. It is super long and very cool.  We also found a website HERE that has a mapped out tour of Alabama where you can visit 7 in one day - a fun trip for a Fall weekend.  This is the only picture I took of the bridge. The day before, we visited the Patton Musuem at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and viewed Ft. Knox from as close as they will let you get. They say there is still a ton of gold in Ft. Knox - trillions of dollars worth.  We liked the Patton Museum.  I don't agree with most of Patton's management style, but do respect that he accomplished much.  I was impressed with some of his leadership statements like this one which I totally agree with: They have some fabulous items at the museum - hubby could have looked for hours and hours if I had let him. They have planes, tanks, and other vehicles there too so you can see exactly what ...
