Time. A precious resource. Over the past two weekends, I was able to get some quality time with my youngest daughter, Allie. These pictures are from two weekends ago.
We started with lunch at a fabulous tea room in Opelika, Alabama, called The Well. They have yummy salads, scones, their famous beet brownies, and teas. I selected a carmelized pear tea (the top left of the pictures) and Allie had some kind of coconut tea (bottom of the pictures). They were out of their beet brownies, so we split a scone. I had never visited before, but I discovered that some Art Journalers meet there monthly so when work slows down, I will be definitely visiting more.
After lunch, we stopped over at the John Emerald Distillery to try some of their whiskies.
These whiskies had a bit too much bite for me. I had never tried Rye before - I discovered I am not a fan so the fact that it spilled on the flight board did not bother me. Both places were worth the 1.5 hour drive. We stopped off at a Thrift Store and had pizza at Pies and Pints in Montgomery before heading home.

The tea and whiskies are my ticket to the T-gang meeting over at Elizabeth's blog, Altered Book Lover. This week Elizabeth is sharing her fun drink related altered playing card journal, and I can't wait to see what drink related post all the others have come up with. Everyone is welcome as long as they link up a post with something drink related (any type of drink).
A scrapbook page made for my Aunt Joan (she is heading up our crafting retreat this weekend - the grop is called the Snappy Scrappers).
I also have some art made in the last few weeks. First, I have a Painted Journal page with an old Victorian card.
A few cards:

Hugz and Happy T-day!

What a great time you must have had with your daughter. Tea and scones sound wonderful, and although I don't care for whiskey, the experience sounds wonderful. Thanks for taking us to these wonderful places and sharing your experiences with us for T this Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteI love your cards. It goes to show that pigs actually do fly (grin). It's a cute card and perfect for Valentine's Day, too. I would much rather have a paper hug than a paper cut, too. I like that die that uses those trees.
I absolutely love the charming journal page. It is really charming and has a romantic feel to me. I somehow don't ever think of your style as messy, but I sure like the vintage look and feel you have given this latest entry. Thank you so very much for sharing this with us at Art Journal Journey using Bleubeard’s and my theme.
Your outing sounds like a lot of fun. It must be nice weather, too — we wouldn’t drive that far in our snow and ice. The roads here have been quite risky. I hope you enjoy the journalers’ get-togethers.

Good morning, sounds like a wonderful day out with your daughter. I don't know too many people that like the taste of rye-but we do have two friends that rye is their favorite. I love the clear little tea pots that your tea was served in. Your art is beautiful, I especially love the first one Happy T hugs Kathy
ReplyDeleteYou look like you had a wonderful day out with your daughter Nancy. It looks like you had fun. I'm glad omicron is dropping as I've had to be so carefully as my husband is immune compromised. I can't wait to get out and about again. How fun to visit a tea room for T. And your art is gorgeous today. I love your journal page. It came out gorgeous and feels almost retro. It is perfect for Elizabeth's style challenge at AJJ. Thanks for sharing with us. And nice scrap page and cards too. I hope you have a great T day and week ahead. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful tea place! It looks worth the ride :) Happy T Tuesday
ReplyDeleteOh, this sounds like a lot of yummy fun!
ReplyDeleteDon´t know if I tried Whiskey ever? Rum and beer and wine, though, haha, happy times.
Cute cards, too, to a happy T-Day!
P.S. New company called me twice today, interview come Thursday (problem: I want to work in Braunschweig due to a car accident no more driving, please, so I say no to other cities).
Hugz!
That looks like such a great place to have lunch, and coconut tea- love it! Not a fan of the hard liqueur- especially rye for that matter but it's fun to do a tasting.
ReplyDeleteWonderful art projects- I especially love the journal page with the vintage card. Happy T day!
It looks like you had a wonderful time with your daughter, the tea and whiskey look delicious 😀. Such a beautiful journal page and cards too, the flying cupid pig made me smile! Wishing you a very Happy T Day! Hugs Jo x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards and pages Nancy! It looks like you had a wonderful day out with your daughter.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Alison
Beet brownie sounds interesting and I'm not really sure what it would taste like. Too bad they were out of them since you could have told us. Their tastes in tea also are quite unusual. How lovely that you could have spent such a great time with your daughter.
ReplyDeleteYour cards, journal page and scrapbook page look gorgeous. I like the name "Snappy Scappers". Happy T day!
There's nothing better than quality family time and good food and drinks! Love the beautiful art, too. Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThe tea room sounds like a fabulous place for lunch. Mmm, the coconut tea sounds delightful, too. Such fun pages and cards you created. I love the cupid piggy. Happy T Day
ReplyDeleteWow you are so busy. I am happy that you had time with your daughter and did such fun things. Of course your art is amazing. Have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got to spend a wonderful day with your daughter. Your tea room sounds wonderful! Brings back some very happy memories for me. We had a fabulous tea room in our area. It was open for 32 years...and I managed to get there at least once a year. Sadly it closed. These was also one that was about one and half hours from my home. I only got to visit there one time. Two dear friends took me there for my birthday...but with the pandemic it is now closed.
ReplyDeleteI like all your art work.. as always.
I just wanted to ask you a quick question. I didn't see your email address so I will send you PM at Split coast. Hope you are having a great week.
Snappy Scarppers sounds like a fun group. Have fun at the scrap retreat, Nancy. Happy T Day!
ReplyDeletesounds like a fun time with your daughter :)

Oh that tearoom sounds (and looks) great. If it were a bit nearer (I', in Spain) I would definitely visit. The beet scones sound interesting. Shame they didn't have any.
ReplyDeleteYour artwork is beautiful, especially the cards. I had to smile at the pig with wings though. In England there is an expression ´Pigs might fly´ they say it when something you desire is quite impossible and is not going to happen, but.... pigs might fly! Now I see the pig disguised as Cupid, and it made me smile.
Happy belated T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca
Looks like a wonderful time with your daughter! What fun! I so love that Vintage Victorian image on your page!! It looks amazing as does your cards...that pig! LOL! ReplyDeleteThat tea room sounds wonderful and everything you two had looks great. I think the art meeting sound fabulous, wish they did something like that here.
ReplyDeleteNow, the whiskies were a lovely way to finish the day off.
