Bible Journaling, a Concert, a Stout, and a Bit of Art

I finally bought some good quality Daniel Smith Watercolors and what did I paint?  Circles.

This Bible Journal Page is actually for two challenges.  One is the color values challenge on Splitcoaststampers.com last week and the other is for **Art*Journal*Journey* where Alison has us playing with one of our favorite songs or movies.  I had the song Jesus is Coming Back by Jordan Feliz stuck in my head so I journaled one of the thousands of biblical references to His return (Luke 17).  I always think of orbs when I think of our souls (funny how we all chose our own ways of visualizing things).  HERE is the link to the song if you are interested (it is addictive so fair warning).

Speaking of music, my youngest daughter took me to a Black Jacket Symphony concert in Montgomery, Alabama, Saturday.  When BJS does these "Best of concerts" they pick several bands to cover. We knew they would be doing songs by the Police, but we were not sure which other songs they would do.  We totally lucked out as the other band was Queen (my favorite band of all time).  It was amazing  - I actually had a tear in my eye as it felt like Freddie was being channeled through Marc Martel.  Marc's did some of the songs in the movie Bohemian Rhapsody.

HERE is a link to Marc singing Bohemian Rhapsody if you are interested.

Of course, I need a ticket to Elizabeth's T-day party!  This week I tried a new stout.  This stout had hints of dark chocolate, toffee and caramel.  It was drinkable, but I realized I am a porter lover and not a stout lover...  It was fun to try anyway.  Happy T-day to all the gang.  I always look foward to visiting you each week.
Lastly a little art.  I cased THIS beautiful card by Wendy Fee (this week's featured stamper at Splitcoaststampers.com).  The stamps are by SU! (Wendy is a demonstrator so I felt that was important), but I used TH Distress Ink - Black Soot.  The card is off to a friend recently hurt in an ATV accident where she was ejected.  She had  concussion and received a few staples in her head, but she is recovering very well.  I added a bunch of Stickles to the trees to reflect the diamonds mentioned in the sentiment.

Thank you for dropping by and spending a bit of your day with me!  Hugz,  Nancy

  2. I love painting circles. It is really relaxing and I love circles on a page. Yours is great Nancy, and perfect for Alison's challenge at AJJ. Thanks for sharing with us. And that sounds like a fun concert. I haven't been to a concert is sooooo long. I think it is about time. And you try so many great sounding beers. I like dark beers so I am always really interested in what you share for T. This one sounds good. I loe the idea of dark chocolate, caramel and toffee. Maybe not quite as much as last week's peanut butter beer. Smile. Have a wonderful T day and week ahead. hugs-Erika

  11. A fun art journal page. They say that is the best way to use a new set of paints, swatch them in creative ways. I think it looks great. I am also loving that pretty scene on your card.
I don't know if I have heard of that song by Jordan Feliz so I will have to look it up. We love all of his songs.
    Happy Tea Day,

  12. Lovely art you created. Sounds like you had a good time with your daughter at the concert. I wouldn't know the difference between stout and porter. Happy T Day

  13. Your watercolors look beautiful. I am no good with watercolors, but I sure appreciate that you are enjoying your new ones. That is a wonderful page and a lovely song (yes, I clicked the link) and great for Alison's theme at Art Journal Journey. Circles are so symbolic, I think.

I would love that concert, too, That is my kind of music. Born too late, I've been told.

Your card is lovely. I like the sparkles and the really clean style you chose.

I am a HUGE stout fan, so this would be something I would gladly drink. Porter is OK, but stout is all I like. Thanks for sharing your art, the music, and your stout with us for T this Tuesday, dear Nancy.

As for the napkin swap, I won't know many details until I close the swap in mid June.

Forest Goodies and Other Projects

Hello Crafty Friends. I just got the Stamperia Forest Paper and Die Cuts in the mail so I had to play with them right away.   I have a combo creation - journal page and card.  On the journal page I used my 6x6 Dina Wakley Journal and laid a base of gesso.  I then used Dina's pastel crayons and some SU! inks and stamps.  Also added in some TH Dress Ink in Vintage Photo since I don't know how to make anything without it  (seriously).   The eagle is a Stamperia Forest die cut and is coated with gesso.  Did a bit of stenciling and distressing to finish the page off.  I am linking this the the **Art*Journal*Journey* September Texture Theme (last day - can't wait to see what October's Theme will be).  The die cut and the little smears add texture to the already very textured page.   I love the blue and green together and was inspired to made a quick card for my Son-in-law who cut down some tree limbs for us the other day.  The paper in the middle is from the Stamperia Forest

A Martini, Peanut Butter Cupakes, and Art

Hello Friends. Today, I have an ecletic mix of drinks, dessert, and art. First, it's T-day somewhere in the world so time for a drink post which I am linking to Elizabeth's Blog - Altered Book Lover.  Last week we had a work related dinner.  When the waitress asked what I wanted to drink, I had a sudden craving for a martini.  I use to love them, but I guess my tastes have changed because I wasn't a fan.  I was a fan of the chips and dips though! And the day before, I brought my Sister's fabulous peanut butter cupcakes.  Mainly because I was craving them and couldn't ask her to make just one..... Over at **Art*Journal*Journey* Elle picked a theme of Books, Cats, and Tea (you can pick one, two or three of the items).  I did a Bible Journal Page in my Journaling Bible - Luke 13:24-25.  After a layer of Gesso, I took a Sharpie pen and drew the kitty, then the narrow door, and then colored the door with Arteza Brush pens. The verse was written with a Micron pen.  This

Milkshake Malt Porter and a Bit of Art

Hello friends and Happy T-day. It has been hit or miss with me lately on T-day posts. The remodel of our house next door has taken our mental and physical energy.  I think a few more weeks and things will be on the contractor instead of us.  Hopefully I will be back to normal by then. My Oldest Darling Daughter asked if we wanted to come for dinner Saturday.  Translation:  go to the store with me and we will bring part of dinner to your house and you cook the rest.  While at the store, I saw one 6 pack of this fun milkshake porter so, of course, I bought it.  It smells wonderful (a hint of chocolate and a hit of malt) and has a light creamy taste.  I would definitely buy it again if I see it.  My son-in-law did not like it, but he is more a  Miller Lite fan.  Now if this had been a whiskey, he would have been all over it.  LOL.  Linking this to Elizabeth's blog for the T-party gang. Darling Daughter had tried her hand at dried pintos, and she rocked them (I will begging for a rep
