Hello friends! I am back from our vacation and have some fun stuff to share.
The experience involves tasting their bourbons and then mixing the different types to find the best mixture for you.

I tried a bunch of mixtures and did not like any of them, BUT I learned a lot and had fun. Definely worth the money. I also tried a new to me wine bought on our trip - 1000 Stories. I bought it because of the buffalo and the bourbon barrel aging, and I loved it! I will try and find it somewhere around here if I can (it is a California red so I have a chance). 
I also have some art to share. I have been working on the fun fish theme at **ART*JOURNAL*JOURNEY*, but haven't had time to post and of my pages. I finished this one over the weekend and I am also posting it to Art Piaskownica's Mermaid theme as well (notice the little mermaid tail at the very bottom). 
This last one was done using some sea paper, a DRS fish, and some sea creatures fussy cut from the underwater paper. I added in some cofee I was drinking, a bit of watercolor, stamped words, and bit of sparkle from some Ranger Stickles
First, I have some fun drinks to share with the T-day Gang over at Elizabeth's blog.
While in Louisville, Kentucky, I did the Bourbon Craft Experience at Barrels and Billets next door to the Louisville Slugger Factory (hubby went the Baseball Museum instead).

I did the next two at a crafting retreat earlier this month. The first one was all handdrawn and watercolored other than a text stamp done lightly in the background.

ReplyDeleteI am not sure I've ever tasted bourbon, but I was impressed with the tasting test. I suspect I would have preferred the Louisville Slugger Museum. I never took the tour, but I will never forget that HUGE bat propped against the building. I'm sure I have a photo somewhere, too. No Barrels and Billets, though. I suspect before they came up with that store.

It sounds like you had a super vacation Nancy, the bourbon tasting sounds especially fun. Great artwork as well, I bet you had a brilliant time at the crafting retreat.

Nancy... nice to see what you were up to on your vacation! i would so be removing that label from the wine bottle to use in my crafting..lol The best way i've found is by putting very hot water from the tap in the bottle ...letting it sit a minute or two a taadaa.. peels off easily! Or most of the time anyway...lol I love your art.. AJJ is turning out so many amazing fish pictures this month and yours are just beautiful.. I really love the one with the whale.. ReplyDeleteThese are lovely art journal pages. I once had a 1000 Stories wine, it was a Zinfandel and I found it at Trader Joe's. Pretty good stuff.

First of all I love the sign above the Bourbon Experience.
ReplyDeleteYour pages are gorgeous and each so different in their make up.
The first one really attracted me with the colours - the fishy scale representation of that background is lush! I do like the addition of the glass beads and the little girl with her story at the base of the page.
The second one made me smile as I imagine if we could see her other eyeball it would be in the centre of that eye too (cross-eyed). That was great thinking with the quote and the picture - love it, such good fun.
The third is a lovely example of watercolouring. I love how you created the uneven edge on the right, gives the whole age character and I imagine it is even better in real life because of the Stickles and the coffee.
Such a treat this morning to see all three pages. Glad you had a good vacation too.
