Art, More Art, and an Alabama Slammer

Hello friends.

I am so late with my T-day post that it is s W-day post! Starting with some art first and then my ticket.

This first card was for the Wednesday Watercolor challenge at Splitcoaststampers.com (SCS).  THIS is the tutorial we watched. My sentiment is from IO (Impression Obsession), and I used a stencil for the birds. Everything is watercolored with Daniel Smith watercolors.

This next card was for the teaparty challenge which was to celebrate Nick's 79th birthday.  He loves blue so I dressed up my CTMH party gnome in blue, did the cake stand in blue, and added a few blue candles.  I used THIS tutorial to do the cake.
My last two cards are using the new S'more Birthday Wishes stamp at DRS Designs.  I also stamped the Toasting Marshmallows stamp on this first one.  The card is colored up with my trusty Daniel Smith Watercolors and a bit of glitter.
This one has a graham cracker made with an old embossing folder and a few score lines.  The marshmallow is some modeling paste.
And now for my T-dayticket is a picture of my daughter's drink at the Montgomery Biscuits Baseball game last week (minor league team). I am linking it up to Elizabeth's blog as she is our hostess. My daughter didn't like this drink so she let me have a few sips.  It is an Alabama Slammer (fruit punch with alcohol), and it was very good.  We hadn't been to one of the games previously so this was treat for us to go. I think we may try to go to a few more games this season. Just in case you are wondering, they do sell biscuits at the game and throw them to the audience as well.  Super fun.
So happy late T-day or W-day - take your pick.

Hugz,

Nancy

  1. You are really a talented card maker Nancy. They are all so lovely (you can certainly paint birds nicely), but the s'mores ones are really clever. We went to one of our local minor league team's games a few years ago. They're fun and so much cheaper than a major league game. Have a great week and hope it was a super T day too. hugs-Erika

  2. Baseball really is in season now, isn’t it? I haven’t been to a game for ages, and never went to very many of them, though I’ve always lived near cities with a Major League team. Your game and drink sound like fun.

  11. I am a shameful host, Nancy. I am SO sorry I missed this post until today. You make the most beautiful cards. I am truly impressed with the watercolor birds. They are fantastic. I love them. I also love the S'mores, especially the last one. Talk about mixed media!!! Beautiful.

Although I am not a fan of alcohol, the Alabama Slammer sounds good. The only time I enjoy baseball is if I am there. Watching it on TV is very boring to me. So glad you got to go to this ball game. I love the photo you took of the drink and the ball game. Thanks for sharing this and your amazing cards with us for T this week, dear Nancy.

Forest Goodies and Other Projects

Hello Crafty Friends. I just got the Stamperia Forest Paper and Die Cuts in the mail so I had to play with them right away.   I have a combo creation - journal page and card.  On the journal page I used my 6x6 Dina Wakley Journal and laid a base of gesso.  I then used Dina's pastel crayons and some SU! inks and stamps.  Also added in some TH Dress Ink in Vintage Photo since I don't know how to make anything without it  (seriously).   The eagle is a Stamperia Forest die cut and is coated with gesso.  Did a bit of stenciling and distressing to finish the page off.  I am linking this the the **Art*Journal*Journey* September Texture Theme (last day - can't wait to see what October's Theme will be).  The die cut and the little smears add texture to the already very textured page.   I love the blue and green together and was inspired to made a quick card for my Son-in-law who cut down some tree limbs for us the other day....

Halloween Lunch Pictures and Some Art

Happy T-day! Our favorite local restaurant is Fox's Pizza Den where they have great pizza, sandwiches, pasta and salads. They also have a Bourbon Bar.  Prices range from $7 to almost $1,000 on the bourbon and bourbon drinks.   Each holiday, the bourbon bar comes up with fun holiday themed drinks and they decorate the bar too.  A few weeks ago, we headed there for lunch and to try one of the new drinks.  Here is the holiday drink menu and my tickets to T-day over at Elizabeth's Blog where we share our fun drink related items from the week.  Of course, my daughter loves vampire books and movies so she picked the blood bag. I go more for taste so I got the Meet Your Maker - it was wonderful.   We shared a pizza and a salad.  I forgot to take a picture of the pizza, but I did get one of the salad. It had grilled chicken and potato wedges - super fun.  They make their ranch dressing on site and it is wonderful.  My husband has been know...

Dreams of Fall, Numbers, and a Cool Drink

I hate to admit it, but I am already looking forward to Fall!  That is also the theme for this House Mouse card I finished up today. I stamped this 2009 Turning Over a New Leaf (Monica) image on the envelope too because the current House Mouse & Friends Monday Challenge #392 theme is decorate your envelope too.  On the card, I stamped the image, popped up some of the leaves and drew in some branches.  The background and leaves are watercolored with DOX ink.  Monica is colored with pencils and watercolor.   I sure wished it was Fall on Saturday when we were watching our youngest grandson at the 6U All Star State Championship. It was very hot. His team lost in the semi-finals. We were very proud of how hard they played. Speaking of baseball, I did two pages on our two All-Stars. I am linking them up to the Numbers theme at **Art*Journal*Journey* .  I have numbers in the journaling and there are numbers on their jerseys.   The All Stars cap ...
