T is for Drinks and Art

Happy T-day!

I can't believe I actually am doing my T-day post on T-day this week. T-day is a big deal over at Elizabeth's Blog - Altered Book Lover where we share something having to do with a drink. It can be a drink or something representing a drink like a movie, artwork, book, etc.  Today I have several drink related items.

First, I have my card from yesterday's CAS challenge at Splitcoaststampers.com which was actually about drinks (alcoholic or nonalcoholic). I decided to focus on wine since I have been wanting to use this Rubbernecker phrase stamp.  I added in some scoring, and embossed wine bottle (Rubbernecker wine bottle die), some Tim Holtz paper dolls, and some Stickles.

Last week's F4A challenge at Splitcoaststampers.com was all about shadows. I stamped this coffee cup stamp from Stamping Up!, drew in some foliage and flowers, then water-colored everything with Daniel Smith Watercolors. The sentiment is from Close to My Heart.

Lastly, I got some new tea - HT Black Cask Bourbon Tea. It has a definite bourbon flavor and aroma. I really like it, and it was reasonably priced on Amazon. I am drinking some right now.

Last week was filled with errands, painting, a field trip with our middle grandson, walking with my oldest daughter, lunch with both daughters on Wednesday, and a women's conference with my sister and a sweet friend. Hubby was feeling a bit better (update: he had surgery to have his pacemaker battery replaced a few weeks ago and had a horrible sinus infection - the infection is gone, and the surgery pain is manageable - now we just need to see if there is anything they can do about his hip arthritis). It was a good week.

Before I sign off, I want to share my favorite card from weekend challenges.  It was done with watercolor washes and then the trees were scraped in with white acrylic paint applied to a pizza cutter/scoop. Details were painted and drew in for the bark and branches. The rabbits are die cut and sponged.

Hope you have a lovely week. Thank you for visiting.

Hugz,

Nancy

  1. Your favorite card is very beautiful. I like its simplicity. The two other cards are lovely as well - the first one made me laugh. That's a great sentiment! The stamp in the second card was just the coffee cup and then you added the flowers by drawing/painting them? It's beautiful! Happy T day!

  3. Oh, wait, sorry, WINE does that 😂😁 - GREAT!
You made some very nice cards, dear Nancy, the first one was very funny and pleasingly nostalgic and as for the last one: I love birch trees and the blue and white color mix is so spring-like for me, just beautiful. I'm really looking forward to spring. Then there's the pretty tea tin and the coffee cup stamp filled with flowers, well done! You really were able for T-Day!

I didn't know that your hubby wasn't well (I probably missed it when you wrote it), but I'm glad that he's better now and that you had a good week - with daughters, grandchildren, sister, sweet friend... - that definitely sounds nice.
All the best and happy T-Day, Traude

    1. Traude, my hubby had to have his pacemaker battery replaced so there was a surgery to remove the pack, replace the battery and then sew him back up. That on top of a bad sinus infection and some major hip arthritis that came on him in the last few months. The last few days, the surgery site has been less painful and the sinus infection has cleared. Now we wait to get in for the possible solutions to the hip. Thanks for your positive thoughts/wishes.

  4. Oh what a beautiful card! (with the trees)
I'm glad you had a good week. That's what we want to hear.
I'm also glad your hubby is better. I didn't know he was ill.
That tea really sounds interesting. Bourbon flavoured tea. Sounds good to me.
    Happy T-Day,

  5. Glad your hubby is doing better , and it sounds like you're really enjoying your retirement. It's great to be able to do all kinds of fun things, isn't it? Of course with a sick hubby you might have to do a little nursing, maybe? And your cards are gorgeous. I like them all, but your birch trees and bunnies is really really lovely. Enjoy your Tea, it sounds delicious. I hope it was a great T day Nancy. hugs-Erika

  7. I laughed at the "good men" card. It was quite cleverly created, too. I was more than impressed by the coffee cup with shadows. That was brilliant. And your birch trees are just amazing. I even love the background.

That tea sounds like something I would enjoy. At first, I thought it was loose leaf, but noticed there were 20 sachets. Thanks for sharing your fabulous cards and your new tea with us for T this Tuesday, dear Nancy.

    Your watercolor-work is beautiful.
And your tea sounds super-yummy. Mine atm is almond punch with milk.
Quite a busy week you had there (phew on your Hubby! It´s always sad when one is totally healthy and the other is suffering...), yes, please join me with that journal ! I started back then joining Eileen, who sadly passed away.
    Big bunny hugz

Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. My tag is made from an old cardboard box top which I peeled down, painted, distressed a bit, and then added some snow medium. My bow is actually a new bow designed by Pamela Lehto (available at Squigglefly tomorrow). Please join us in the Pattie's Creations Tag Challenge - there are lovely DT tags for inspiration and Pattie gives away wonderful prizes! Hugz!

Stamps, Books, Found Relatives, and More Food

Don't you love getting new stuff?  This is my fun new stuff from  Red Lead Paperworks .   I ordered the fun vintage looking deer stamp and the three Christmas greetings - all were on sale a few weeks ago.  I love getting their packages because they always send some extra little goodies like collage sheets and old tickets plus even their packaging is cute and reusable.  The sheet with the leaves and acorns on the bottom is the other side of the invoice so you can reuse it as well.  I can't wait to play with these fun goodies.  Here is a look at my current reading pile.  I checked Basil's War by Stephen Hunter from the library, my daughter lent me The Paper Palace, and I bought The Host, Going Back to Petrey, and The Lady in Blue from the Thrift Store. I am reading Basil's War and The Lady in Blue at the same time - something I really shouldn't do especially since both books are the kind that switch between stories every chapter.  Th...
