Butterflies, cupcakes, coffee, and a Romantic poem





This week's Queen for the Day at Splitcoast Stampers is Angela (aka Arizona Maine) who is a very talented card artist. I cased this lovely card out of her gallery. What a gallery that girl has!

I could make a zillion variations of this card! The papers did all the work (The Mariposa stack from DCWV). I used a sheet for my center panel and cut the butterfly out of another sheet to use as the focal point. It is actually a card for a friend at work - hope he doesn't mind it is a bit girly with the pearls and swirls.







I also cased this week's Featured Stamper - Debbie (aka swldebbie) who has a darling gallery full of lovely CAS sketches and fun images. This is her card that I cased.


The image I used is from Fresh Brewed Designs and is available free if you join their facebook party. The rules are that join the facebook party, use the image, and do paper piecing or piercing.

Lastly, one of my oldest DD friends is having her first wedding anniversary this year. Her husband wrote her a poem and wanted me to make a card for him to give her. Isn't that totally romantic? I used my current favorite dies - the MFT rolled roses and made several different cards for him, and I have posted my two favorites. I can't wait to hear what she thought of that sweet poem he wrote her!

    Great job as always. Love the butterfly card. You did a great job on Rachel's card and I am sure she absolutely loved it and especially the poem from her hubby. You have been a very busy lady this weekend.

    These are all gorgeous Nancy, I love the butterfly on the first card,the cupcake and coffee on the second, the embossing and flowers on the third and the beautiful verse on the last.

    Wonderful creations, Nancy. Your sympathy is beautiful. I'll take the cupcake on the second card, you keep the coffee. Ha It's a great card even if I don't do coffee. The third and fourth cards are so sweet and beautiful. Love your rolled roses.

    OMG you have been BUSY...what eye candy! Everyone of these cards are gorgeous but so different! The butterfly is absolutly GORGEOUS and I love the Fresh Brewed Designs card, such a cute sentiment!

    Wow! Nancy! Your cards are all gorgeous! Your sympathy card is absolutely STUNNING. And I just love the awesome paper piecing on your Fresh Brewed Designs "Perfect Pair" coffee digi! That cupcake looks good enough to eat! I believe that you are inspiring me to try making up some flowers of my own. I'm usually too lazy!

The Sea, Words of Courage, and Some Ink/Watercolor

Hello friends, Last week felt like a stormy sea of its own with my husband recovering from recent hip replacement surgery and several friends and family members facing life battles - my heart was caught in the waves. Computer issues and lack of sleep didn't help. Mark 4:39-41 reminded me: even when the winds rage, Jesus is in the boat. He speaks peace over the chaos. “Peace, be still.” I needed that reminder. Several lovely Creative Worship Stamps sets were used in the making of this watercolored and inked BAJ page: The Sea (the boat and verse), Scene Silhouettes: Tall Grasses, and Have Courage . This page was stamped, then watercolored with Daniel Smith Watercolors. I finished it off with some Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Vintage Photo, Mustard Seed, and Ground Expresso), plus a little bit of Silver Stickles. Flowers, a Flag, and Some Wise Words

Hello Crafty Friends! I love Halle's theme at **Art*Journal*Journey* this month: Botanicals. So many possibilities... I combined the botanical theme with some of the colors in ARTNUDGE#725A and came up with this Bible Art Journal page focusing on 1 Timothy 2:1-2. I also made a patriotic prayer card too. In these verses, Paul tells Timothy (and all of us) to pray for everyone but he especially calls out prayer for kings and leaders. He indicates that this type of prayer could lead us to a tranquil and quite life in all godliness and dignity. I think we can all agree that the world needs much prayer right now and it is an easy step we can take.   I experimented on this journal page. I usually cover any bible journal pages with gesso before painting on them, but I have issues with the gesso gumming up my Micron pens or unevenly taking color. This time I used Daniel Smith Ground Medium in Titanium White (I mixed it with 10 parts water). I loved it and will be using it in the fut...

Wise Words for Life's Storms

 My first post as a Guest Designer for Creative Worship Stamps. This watercolor and ink card features one of my favorite CWS sentiments - Big God . I am so grateful He is there in storms and this stamp beautifully underscores His power. The main panel of this card is watercolor paper and was painted with Daniel Smith Watercolors and Liquid Ink (the white highlights in the rain drops). The words were stamped with black ink from Close to My Heart. Hugz, Nancy
