Some Wise Words

I cased two cards on Splitcoast Stampers done by Lionsmane (she is the Featured stamper this week). She has a lovely gallery and I had a fun time playing in there getting inspiration.

I cased a fun umbrella card using Cheryl Alger's Sam's Rainy Day image (this also reminds me the Squigglefly challenge this week is Lovely Liquids - use liquid in your image or on your image) and came up with this:



Then I cased a lovely flower card by Lionsmane using a free image from Ikes' World and came up with this:



The sentiment says: Youth is the gift of nature and age is the work of art. I am feeling my age this week for some reason - I think it all started the day that I went out of town and didn't bring my age reducing cream. Oh my gosh - that was scary! When I put my makeup on without the cream, I looked like the Criptkeeper (it was that momment that Lindsay Lohan had in Freaky Friday when she saw herself in the mirror and she was Jamie Lee Curtis - seriously!). Things haven't been the same since for me! And I was buying that 50 was the new 40 prior to that - LOL!

    Ha, and just the other day I was reading an article that 70 was the new 50. And just in case you were wondering, it was an article about retiring. These articles are trying to move our generation to retiring at 70....can you imagine! It's wonderful if you are in good health and enjoy your work. My Dad lived to 67 and well my Mom had COPD really bad by 70 and her quality of life has been in the crapper. So no, I am not waiting until 70. If I feel like when I was 50, well then I'll go hike a mountain or something instead of working....lol
    Your cards are adorable. I love the Noah sentiment-that's so inspiring. Have a wonderful day! Miss you and hope things are progressing well with the Wedding plans.

    Two great cards. Just love the sentiment on the first one :) Love the floral image and embossing around it on the second card. I got a reality check when my daughter took a first thing in the morning picture of me with her new camera! Saaaaary stuff LOL! But, life is to be lived and age is just a number. Good news: we don't have to look at ourselves that much - everyone else gets the honor LOL!

    You're too funny Nancy! I used to buy that 50 is the new 40 too but it's crap! I haven't even hit the 5-0 mark yet but i feel like the Crypt-keeper's helper!! Just read Carol's comments too (oh boy! . . . 70!!!) Love both cards!

    Love the sentiment on your first card. The other one is so beautiful with the embossing and beautiful image. You are being funny again....about the age reducing cream. LOL

Flowers, a Flag, and Some Wise Words

Hello Crafty Friends! I love Halle's theme at **Art*Journal*Journey* this month: Botanicals. So many possibilities... I combined the botanical theme with some of the colors in ARTNUDGE#725A and came up with this Bible Art Journal page focusing on 1 Timothy 2:1-2. I also made a patriotic prayer card too. In these verses, Paul tells Timothy (and all of us) to pray for everyone but he especially calls out prayer for kings and leaders. He indicates that this type of prayer could lead us to a tranquil and quite life in all godliness and dignity. I think we can all agree that the world needs much prayer right now and it is an easy step we can take.   I experimented on this journal page. I usually cover any bible journal pages with gesso before painting on them, but I have issues with the gesso gumming up my Micron pens or unevenly taking color. Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

 I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

Stamps, Books, Found Relatives, and More Food

 Don't you love getting new stuff?  This is my fun new stuff from  Red Lead Paperworks .   I ordered the fun vintage looking deer stamp and the three Christmas greetings - all were on sale a few weeks ago.  I love getting their packages because they always send some extra little goodies like collage sheets and old tickets plus even their packaging is cute and reusable.  The sheet with the leaves and acorns on the bottom is the other side of the invoice so you can reuse it as well.  I can't wait to play with these fun goodies.  Here is a look at my current reading pile.  I checked Basil's War by Stephen Hunter from the library, my daughter lent me The Paper Palace, and I bought The Host, Going Back to Petrey, and The Lady in Blue from the Thrift Store. I am reading Basil's War and The Lady in Blue at the same time - something I really shouldn't do especially since both books are the kind that switch between stories every chapter.  Th...
