A Hunter and a Llama

It's our team's week off at Squigglefly, but the challenge this week is one of my favorite type of challenges in the world - masculine cards - so I had to jump right in and play too. The challenge (SFC2013) is called Man Up!, and the goal is to make some Father's Day cards for your Dad, Grandad, Brother, Hubby, etc. We all need more masculine cards so I made two (hope I can find them on Father's Day - I lost the one I made my Mom and still haven't found it - opps).

I made one for my Pop who is a giant hunter. I have never tried to color something camo - I love how it came out. Isn't this image cute? It is from Diane Carubia and is called A Hunting We Will Go. I am also entering this in the Punch challenge at Card Making Mamas.

Then I made one for my Hubby using the new Lynne Stansbery image called Llama Mama. It comes with some great sentiments, but I just had to make up this one for Kenny! My Mom laughed for a long time after she saw this llama and it cracks me up everytime I see it!

I had so much fun with these images - you can get them at Squigglefly along with a zillion other fun images.

Hugz!

  1. Both these images are so cute, and you did a great job with coloring them. I have to admit that masculine cards are probably my LEAST favorite card to make...but you sure know how to make a masculine card!!! Well done!

  5. Both of these cards are fantastic, maybe that's why you like masculine cards, because you do them so well. Both are wonderful images and colored to perfection.

  9. Wow, both those cards are just adorable. I am not sure which one I would give my dad, probably the 2nd one because it's too cute. He was a hunter though, so he might find the 1st one great for father's day. Thanks for playing in the Squigglefly Challenge this week. Great work!

Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. My tag is made from an old cardboard box top which I peeled down, painted, distressed a bit, and then added some snow medium. My bow is actually a new bow designed by Pamela Lehto (available at Squigglefly tomorrow). Please join us in the Pattie's Creations Tag Challenge - there are lovely DT tags for inspiration and Pattie gives away wonderful prizes! Hugz!

Stamps, Books, Found Relatives, and More Food

Don't you love getting new stuff?  This is my fun new stuff from  Red Lead Paperworks .   I ordered the fun vintage looking deer stamp and the three Christmas greetings - all were on sale a few weeks ago.  I love getting their packages because they always send some extra little goodies like collage sheets and old tickets plus even their packaging is cute and reusable.  The sheet with the leaves and acorns on the bottom is the other side of the invoice so you can reuse it as well.  I can't wait to play with these fun goodies.  Here is a look at my current reading pile.  I checked Basil's War by Stephen Hunter from the library, my daughter lent me The Paper Palace, and I bought The Host, Going Back to Petrey, and The Lady in Blue from the Thrift Store. I am reading Basil's War and The Lady in Blue at the same time - something I really shouldn't do especially since both books are the kind that switch between stories every chapter.  Th...
