Some Chilled Drinks and Some Flowers



I found a new challenge yesterday (new to me) called Drunken Stampers. They pick movies as the challenge themes and this week is The Hangover (DSC#129). I am not sure if we are suppose to drink when we create (LOL) or not, but I did have at least 3 cups of coffee before I started this card (that is a lot for me). I have to also admit that I haven't seen this movie so I had to go watch some scenes on the internet and read some summaries before I started my card.

Anyway, I went with the party theme on my card since the movie appears to have a lot of partying in it, and I glitzed it up a bit with sparkle paper, Stickles, Spica pen on my bucket, and silver gems in the corner since the movie is set in Las Vegas. I used my new Doohickey dies to make the banner (love them) and an old DudeTime Doodles image (it is still one of my favs).

Fun challenge - can't wait to see what the next movie will be.



My last card for this morning is a case of Vicki (JustCrazy) for the Featured Stamper Challenge at SCS. Vicki's card (HERE) is so pretty! I changed the colors, layout, and a few other things. Had to do another Thank You card - I still have a zillion more to do for wedding and graduation presents (both kids had major events this month). I used several punches and dies in the making of this card: a Quickcutz die for the base die cut, MFT Dienamics Rolled Rose die for the flowers, MS pine branch punch, MS leaf punch for the flower arrangement, and SU! Butterfly Embosslet for the butterflies.

    Love the flag pole with the banner sentiments on the first and looky at you rocking those rolled roses on the second!! You go girl! Lovely frame and neutral pallet with a pop of blue.

    I've heard of this Drunken Stampers challenge and wondered if drinking was involved. LOL I would say the coffee certainly gave you an edge here. These are two great cards. I like the feel of the Hangover's card and your pennants are "special". Your second card is just as lovely as can be. I also adore that background paper and your die piece on there. I wish you are great Holiday weekend.

    Both great cards! The first challenge sounds interesting. I'm not a drinker...(unless you count coffee) but I'm sure a lot of my crooked cards look like I was drinking when I made them...smile...

    Your cards are always so beautiful! The ice bucket is such a clever idea for a card! The 2nd has some of the prettiest colors and flowers, and that ribbon is just dreamy! I hope you're enjoying your holiday weekend!

    Naccy, I remember being so excited when I first found the Drunken Stampers too :) I find actual drinking normally interferes pretty badly with my colouring....lol! I am so thrilled you came to play with us - and you seriously rocked it your first time around! I love that fun image & oooooh, you love Paper Smooches too? Awesome!

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

 I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

Two Cards and Two Drinks

Today's post includes two cards and two drinks, all of which have been on my kitchen counter. Feelng a bit lost in Wonderland lately - too much work at work and home.  Thought this card would be appropriate to give myself.   The base layer is teabag glued to some heavyweight white card stock.  I used gesso to add a few scraps of Alice paper from Stamperia (too hard to throw away any of it!), and then I added a thin layer of white gesso and some water colors.  A run though the Big Shot with an embossing folder and some splatters of tea and paint added more interest.  Making this base was a bit like a trip to Wonderland as it sort of made itself over a few days - lol. I fussy cut the cat and sentiment out of the Alice papers and stapled on a border to complete the look.  Isn't this cat the cutest?
