A Cute Old Man and Some Christmas Lights

Yes, today a cute old man and some Christmas lights are on my kitchen counter. You just never know what is going to be on my counter. Sometimes real people sit on my counter but today it is an adorable, but fictional, old man drawn by Lynne Stansbery and available at Squigglefly (it is called Smile Pretty). I paired him up with a sentiment by Charlene Mitchell called You Light Up My Life. I made this for the latest Squigglefly Challenge (SFC07-14) - Use both a digital image and digital sentiment on your card or other creation.

My easel card is made with a Spellbinders die, The Paper Studio CS, and dp by Creative Inspirations. The string of lights was used on a card over three years ago and were purchased at Michaels but I don't know the producing company. I gave this card to my parents with some boxes of Girl Scout Cookies and they loved it.

Hope you will join us in the challenge - remember there are some really cute freebie images at Squigglefly if you don't have one.

Hugz!

  1. I'll bet your parents likes this card even better than the Girl Scout Cookies and that is hard to accomplish. LOL. Your stash has some real nice papers in it. I think the easel card was perfect for this image and the Christmas lights are the perfect embellishment for this sentiment. Wishing you a fun day. Can;t wait to see what on your counter next time.

Flowers, a Flag, and Some Wise Words

Hello Crafty Friends! I love Halle's theme at **Art*Journal*Journey* this month: Botanicals. So many possibilities... I combined the botanical theme with some of the colors in ARTNUDGE#725A and came up with this Bible Art Journal page focusing on 1 Timothy 2:1-2. I also made a patriotic prayer card too. In these verses, Paul tells Timothy (and all of us) to pray for everyone but he especially calls out prayer for kings and leaders. He indicates that this type of prayer could lead us to a tranquil and quite life in all godliness and dignity. I think we can all agree that the world needs much prayer right now and it is an easy step we can take.   I experimented on this journal page. I usually cover any bible journal pages with gesso before painting on them, but I have issues with the gesso gumming up my Micron pens or unevenly taking color. This time I used Daniel Smith Ground Medium in Titanium White (I mixed it with 10 parts water). I loved it and will be using it in the fut...

Stamps, Books, Found Relatives, and More Food

Don't you love getting new stuff?  This is my fun new stuff from  Red Lead Paperworks .   I ordered the fun vintage looking deer stamp and the three Christmas greetings - all were on sale a few weeks ago.  I love getting their packages because they always send some extra little goodies like collage sheets and old tickets plus even their packaging is cute and reusable.  The sheet with the leaves and acorns on the bottom is the other side of the invoice so you can reuse it as well.  I can't wait to play with these fun goodies.  Here is a look at my current reading pile.  I checked Basil's War by Stephen Hunter from the library, my daughter lent me The Paper Palace, and I bought The Host, Going Back to Petrey, and The Lady in Blue from the Thrift Store. I am reading Basil's War and The Lady in Blue at the same time - something I really shouldn't do especially since both books are the kind that switch between stories every chapter.  Th...

Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....
