A New Scrapbook Started

My youngest daughter, Alex, is in her Freshman Year at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She joined a sorority and does so many fun things that I wanted to capture the moments in a scrapbook for her. I am doing the whole scrapbook in kraft, red, black and white with a few other colors mixed in. All base pages are kraft and the cover is done in burlap with handmade burlap and red flowers. Here are a few of the pages I have done for the album:

On the first page, I used the text cloud and songbird image by Dawn Collins (available from Squigglefly) - it is one of my favorite images of all time. Alex loved that I put UAB and AOII in the little hearts. I can't wait to finish this scrapbook - I have 150 more fun pictures and still two more months of school (including Spring Break) to go. For inspiration, I have been doing the Scrapbook challenges on Splitcoast Stampers - they are so fun! You can find them HERE.

  2. Nancy, how wonderful you are doing this scrapbook for your daughter. She is beautiful and so is your other daughter. I've seen photos of both. They got good genes. You'll have to take a look at my AL card I made Friday. She'll need one of those someday. :-)

  3. Fabulous layouts and I love your color combo that will go throughout. It would have been funny if my son (also an Alex) and she were to date like you mentioned before. :-)

Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. My tag is made from an old cardboard box top which I peeled down, painted, distressed a bit, and then added some snow medium. My bow is actually a new bow designed by Pamela Lehto (available at Squigglefly tomorrow). Please join us in the Pattie's Creations Tag Challenge - there are lovely DT tags for inspiration and Pattie gives away wonderful prizes! Hugz!

Stamps, Books, Found Relatives, and More Food

Don't you love getting new stuff?  This is my fun new stuff from  Red Lead Paperworks .   I ordered the fun vintage looking deer stamp and the three Christmas greetings - all were on sale a few weeks ago.  I love getting their packages because they always send some extra little goodies like collage sheets and old tickets plus even their packaging is cute and reusable.  The sheet with the leaves and acorns on the bottom is the other side of the invoice so you can reuse it as well.  I can't wait to play with these fun goodies.  Here is a look at my current reading pile.  I checked Basil's War by Stephen Hunter from the library, my daughter lent me The Paper Palace, and I bought The Host, Going Back to Petrey, and The Lady in Blue from the Thrift Store. I am reading Basil's War and The Lady in Blue at the same time - something I really shouldn't do especially since both books are the kind that switch between stories every chapter.  Th...
