Addicted to Stripes

I have been on a stripe kick lately.  They are so easy to do and always look fabulous.  Today, I have a card and a scrapbook layout done with red and blue water colored stripes.

This card was done with thicker, darker stripes. After the stripes had set a minute, I splashed on some water and then patted it off with a paper towel.  The water distressing gives it cool look don't you think?
After I dried the paper a bit with a heat tool, I stamped on the DRS Designs Script Font Background image in Versafine Black Onyx.  I wanted to feature the Made In the USA Circle image, so I stamped it and then punched it out with a SU! Circle Punch.  I experimented with different colors for the circle, but clean white looked best.  I popped the circle up with foam tape so it stands out even more.  I was going for a bit of a vintage look so I sponged some Vintage Photo Distress Ink on the edges to age it a bit.

For my scrapbook page, I used the same water colors (from my cheap $9 set from Michaels), but I watered the paint down more and painted the stripes on thinner.  After I had the stripes painted, I splattered on a bunch of the water color paint along with some white acrylic paint.
I was going for a festive feel.  For this fun layout, I was inspired by THIS card done by Michelle at Splitcoaststampers.com.  Michelle was the Featured Stamper this weekend so to celebrate her, we picked one of her cards and cased it.  I thought it would be fun to turn it into a scrapbook page instead of a card.  The frame is from My Favorite things, the butterflies are a SU! Thinlet die, and the flower is an old hoarded 3-D Flower Sticker.  This is for my smaller sized scrapbook (6x8) - I am loving that size.  On this card, I put the Made in the USA Circle on top of the flower.

Hope you enjoyed these creations.  I really had fun making them.

Hugz,

Nancy

Flowers, a Flag, and Some Wise Words

Hello Crafty Friends! I love Halle's theme at **Art*Journal*Journey* this month: Botanicals. So many possibilities... I combined the botanical theme with some of the colors in ARTNUDGE#725A and came up with this Bible Art Journal page focusing on 1 Timothy 2:1-2. I also made a patriotic prayer card too. In these verses, Paul tells Timothy (and all of us) to pray for everyone but he especially calls out prayer for kings and leaders. He indicates that this type of prayer could lead us to a tranquil and quite life in all godliness and dignity. I think we can all agree that the world needs much prayer right now and it is an easy step we can take.   I experimented on this journal page. I usually cover any bible journal pages with gesso before painting on them, but I have issues with the gesso gumming up my Micron pens or unevenly taking color. This time I used Daniel Smith Ground Medium in Titanium White (I mixed it with 10 parts water). I loved it and will be using it in the fut...

Wise Words for Life's Storms

My first post as a Guest Designer for Creative Worship Stamps. This watercolor and ink card features one of my favorite CWS sentiments - Big God . I am so grateful He is there in storms and this stamp beautifully underscores His power. The main panel of this card is watercolor paper and was painted with Daniel Smith Watercolors and Liquid Ink (the white highlights in the rain drops). The words were stamped with black ink from Close to My Heart. Hugz, Nancy
