A Night Owl Beer and Some Octoberish Creations

Hello friends, and Happy T-day.

I am a diehard morning person, but lately I have stayed up a bit later trying to get a few things done or just reading one of the great books I have in my pile.  This last of my pumpkin beers seems approriately named.

It is dark and flavorable with just a hint of sweet pumpkin.  It is also my ticket to Elizabeth's T-day meeting of worldwide friends celebrating drinks (of any genre) and sharing bits of our life. We meet at Elizabeth's Altered Book Lover Blog and anyone is welcome as long as you share your own drink related post.

Its a new theme over at Art Journal Journey so I used some of the free stuff in my Red Lead package to create a journal page in celebration of Tracey's theme:  The Color October. In case you don't remember my package of goodies I shared last week... the papers were all extras I received when I ordered the vintage deer and Christmas sentiment stamps.

I created a card and a journal page withtthe free papers.

I used the back of the Red Lead invoice they printed with leaves and acorns for the base of the journal page.  I colored it all with watercolors in my favorite October colors.  I popped a few of the leftovers up and splattered the page with my leftover paints.  The words are torn out of True Words Volume One by Melody Ross.

The card is made from the collage sheet Red Lead sent plus a chipboard tag they threw in as well.  I stamped the tag and a based for the card with my favorite DRS Designs Script Font background, sponged on some Distress Oxide, and then set the white owl inside (it was also on that collage sheet).  I fussy cut the butterfly and snipped the sentiment from one of the example sheets they included.  I had fun trying to use the goodies they sent.  I wanted to order more of those chipboard tags - so easy to set in a picture and decorate, but I can't find them on their site.

We went to see the new Addams Family animated movie this past weekend.  It was a fun movie and even had a classic call center reference - I will be trying to get that clip soon!  The theater had it playing in a number of theatre rooms so we could social distance. Wasn't sure how I would feel about it, but we were able to sit away from others far enough that I felt comfortable. On the book front, I am currently reading The Host by Stephanie Meyer (author of the Twilight saga).  I am also planning to go on a haunted hearse tour of Montgomery soon too (I included the link in case you want to check it out).  October is my favorite month of the year.

Hope your week is wonderful!

Nancy

But, on the other hand, I've never looked, I always buy coffee of cola! Have a happy T Day, take care, and have a great week, hugs, Valerie

  4. Good morning Nancy, I love your journal page and card-very pretty and creative. Will you be saving the owl label on your beer bottle? That would be fun on a journal page. I read the host awhile back-I am not that into sci fi but I enjoyed her book. Happy T wishes Kathy

  5. That Night Owl pumpkin ale looks so yummy! I'd love to try it but we don't get many pumpkin beers here in the UK, luckily my hubby brews his own so I'm kept very happy as he makes it twice a year now and I get to also enjoy it over the winter months too 😁. Loving the page and card you made with all those amazing freebies, the way you coloured the paper is amazing! Take care and Happy T Day! Hugs Jo x

  6. I love your journal page you created out of freebies and extras you received with your order. Both are stunning and it goes to show what you can do with freebies. Thanks, too, for sharing these beauties with us using Tracey's theme at Art Journal Journey. Simply beautiful art you created.

I'm not a fan of ale, but this actually sounds good and I'm sure goes well this time of year. Thanks for sharing your incredible art and your ale with us for T this Tuesday, dear Nancy.

  10. I just remembered I was supposed to let you know about the sandwich. It is six individual pieces and they are coasters. I keep coasters all over my house, since all my furniture is real wood. I got this set at a retail Hallmark store in Kansas City, MO years ago. Other than some of my copper coasters, it was (but not now) my most expensive set I own. It consists of two pieces of bread, one tomato, one onion, one piece of cheese, and one piece of meat.

  11. That's an amazing bundle you received Nancy, full of vintage themed papers. The deer reminds me of ones from my childhood that i'd see in story books. What a beautiful journal page and card you created, lovely October leaf colours and those acorns would tempt any squirrel hee hee. So glad you joined me over @ AJJ what a real treat to see.
    Hugs Tracey xx
P.S The pumpkin beer sounds delicious.

  12. Our local breweries produce a variety of seasonal ale & beer, with labels to match. I'm not sure if there is pumpkin in the bottle or just on the label. For sheer variety of pumpkin (and pumpkin spice) foods, though, you can't beat Trader Joe's!

A morning person, good for you. I bet you get a lot accomplished. I am not a morning or a nighttime person so I am not sure what that makes me. Haha!

  15. I love that latest card and page Nancy. The page is so autumn. You got some wonderful dimension. And that beer sounds good. I thought when I retired I would be more of a night owl, and I do sometimes stay up reading, but I guess I am a morning person. Smile. That haunted hearse trip sounds fun. And good for you going to the movies. I haven't ventured there yet. Glad you had a fun time out. I hope it was a great T day Nancy. And thanks for linking that beautiful journal page at AJJ. 16. That acorn paper is fantastic. I love how you used it on the left side of your journal piece and put the other pictures on the right - nice balance there. I hope you saved the label from your beer, I can just imagine that in a layout.
Not sure about that haunted hearse trip - hope you tell us all about it - sounds tooscary for me.

  18. Nancy your art journal page and card are awesome. I love the colours and perfect for Fall. You always buy the most interesting drinks. I’m definitely a night owl. I like the label and I’d be tearing that off and using it in my journal. A haunted tour sounds interesting and in a hearse. I can imagine you doing this for Halloween and dressing up. Happy week dear friend. Hugs from Oz jx

Forest Goodies and Other Projects

Hello Crafty Friends. I just got the Stamperia Forest Paper and Die Cuts in the mail so I had to play with them right away.   I have a combo creation - journal page and card.  On the journal page I used my 6x6 Dina Wakley Journal and laid a base of gesso.  I then used Dina's pastel crayons and some SU! inks and stamps.  Also added in some TH Dress Ink in Vintage Photo since I don't know how to make anything without it  (seriously).   The eagle is a Stamperia Forest die cut and is coated with gesso.  Did a bit of stenciling and distressing to finish the page off.  I am linking this the the **Art*Journal*Journey* September Texture Theme (last day - can't wait to see what October's Theme will be).  The die cut and the little smears add texture to the already very textured page.   I love the blue and green together and was inspired to made a quick card for my Son-in-law who cut down some tree limbs for us the other day.  The paper in the middle is from the Stamperia Forest

A Martini, Peanut Butter Cupakes, and Art

Hello Friends. Today, I have an ecletic mix of drinks, dessert, and art. First, it's T-day somewhere in the world so time for a drink post which I am linking to Elizabeth's Blog - Altered Book Lover.  Last week we had a work related dinner.  When the waitress asked what I wanted to drink, I had a sudden craving for a martini.  I use to love them, but I guess my tastes have changed because I wasn't a fan.  I was a fan of the chips and dips though! And the day before, I brought my Sister's fabulous peanut butter cupcakes.  Mainly because I was craving them and couldn't ask her to make just one..... Over at **Art*Journal*Journey* Elle picked a theme of Books, Cats, and Tea (you can pick one, two or three of the items).  I did a Bible Journal Page in my Journaling Bible - Luke 13:24-25.  After a layer of Gesso, I took a Sharpie pen and drew the kitty, then the narrow door, and then colored the door with Arteza Brush pens. The verse was written with a Micron pen.  This

Milkshake Malt Porter and a Bit of Art

Hello friends and Happy T-day. It has been hit or miss with me lately on T-day posts. The remodel of our house next door has taken our mental and physical energy.  I think a few more weeks and things will be on the contractor instead of us.  Hopefully I will be back to normal by then. My Oldest Darling Daughter asked if we wanted to come for dinner Saturday.  Translation:  go to the store with me and we will bring part of dinner to your house and you cook the rest.  While at the store, I saw one 6 pack of this fun milkshake porter so, of course, I bought it.  It smells wonderful (a hint of chocolate and a hit of malt) and has a light creamy taste.  I would definitely buy it again if I see it.  My son-in-law did not like it, but he is more a  Miller Lite fan.  Now if this had been a whiskey, he would have been all over it.  LOL.  Linking this to Elizabeth's blog for the T-party gang. Darling Daughter had tried her hand at dried pintos, and she rocked them (I will begging for a rep
