A Magical Christmas Tree, Wine, and Shrimp

Hello friends!

Shockingly, it is T-day and I have a short post.  Finally got the Christmas tree done and one package under it - I better get the others wrapped before anyone comes over!

We lost three tubs of oraments again.  The last 3 of 5 years it has happened.  My kids use our storage areas as well so things get moved around.... I just hope they were not donated....  I had just about decided not to do a tree when one of my daughters suggeted a Harry Potter tree.  She went on Amazon and ordered plastic cauldrons, eyeglasses, feathers, owl, trains, and gold balls.  It was fairly reaonable.  I found a few more ornaments at Walgreens (strange but true) and used our Halloween skelly and a fairy my SIL sent us.  The end result is super fun even if a bit quirky.  I am a big Harry Potter fan so it works for me, and hubby even likes it (or says he does).  Some say it doesn't fit into Christmas, but they celebrated Christmas in the HP movies, and it is a good versus evil plot with true hearts and love winning in the end.

Since it is T-day and I want to hang out with the T-day gang over at Elizabeth's, I have the wine at hubby's birthday dinner to share.

It is a Portillo Malbec.  We ate at Bonefish grill which is hubby's favorite restaurant.  He really only likes the one in Mobile, but we were not about to drive 6 hours there and back for dinner - lol.  Of course, we had the Bang Bang Shrimp - the best thing on their menu.  We had fabulous service, but the shrimp is better in Mobile (being located on the water right next to the shrimp helps).

My wish for you this holiday:  stay safe, grab your family and friends and hold them close even if just in your heart, and may you focus on true meaning of the season.

Hugz,

Nancy

  2. That is a unique tree- I was immediately drawn to the owls on it- love them. Whatever brings you delight, that's what counts and if it's HP then so be it:)
A very nice birthday dinner- happy birthday to hubby!
Happy T day, and a Merry Christmas too!

  3. Harry Potter definitely included several exciting Christmas scenes, both in books & movies. So I think your tree is perfect. Having a fresh start is a great opportunity, I think (though I have never had a tree myself, I do love to see what people do with them). Have a wonderful Christmas.

  4. What a shame about the tree ornaments. It's hard to lose things like that which are used every year over so many years. I hope they turn up next year.

    Happy T Tuesday!

  5. Thanks for sharing your beautiful tree. Harry Potter is a great theme, and very fitting as the HP books are all about love, friendship, loyalty and standing up for what is good and right! I lose everything which I put down into my basement. It's like the Bermuda hole, things hide in the darkness and down there and don't get seen again! Have a happy Christmas with your family, hugs, Valerie

  7. I love the idea of a Harry Potter tree, especially Hedwig on top. It must be frustrating that your boxes of ornaments keep getting relocated. But this is fun and something unique. Bang Bang shrimp sounds great. I long bang-bang sauce on chicken and even beef too. Now I want some myself-smile. Have a fantastic holiday Nancy, and happy T day too. Hugs-Erika

  8. Your tree is wonderful, Nancy. I have never seen a HP film or read a HP book, but I sure like your tree anyway.

  9. Sorry about that, Nancy. My cat decided to help by hitting the publish button. I think your home should reflect what makes you happy and if that HP tree makes you happy, that is what is important.

Your restaurant looks good. I personally would like to try the Chilean sea bass or the shrimp scampi, the fish choices I go with when they are on a menu. That wine sounds good, too.

Thanks for sharing your tree, your trip to the Bonefish grill, and your husband's wine with us for T this Tuesday, dear. Merry Christmas to you, too.

  10. Snap! I have lost my ornaments too. In fact, I have lost all my stuff including the nativity scene and decorations.
Your shrimp dinner looks delish. Do you like eating with chopsticks? I have tried it a few times but am not good at it at all. The wine sounds good. It's Argentinian but I can't say that I remember drinking it. In the UK I often chose Argentinian wine as it was cheaper than Californian or Australian wine.
I had to smile at your tree. You are all going to get so much pleasure out of this one. You can look at it for a long while and still discover things. I am not a HP fan, but for those who do it is a great idea. I have another blog friend who is a HP fan and she also does a HP tree.
    Greetings from sunny Spain,
Merry Christmas and a very happy and healthy 2022 to you and yours.

  11. It is fun to see a tree decorated in a theme like yours. We no longer put up a tree and I gave any meaningful orniments to my daughters. I enjoy visiting them at Christmas and seeing the ornaments that once hung in our home. Have a wonderfull Christmas and enjoy the coming New Year.

  13. Yours is the best Christmas tree I have seen! How fun - yes, quirky, but that is a good think. I wouldn't care if it fits into Christmas or not, it is YOUR tree and those "some" can have their own "more fitting" Christmas tree.
I love shrimp and I wonder what Bang Bang shrimp are - I guess something really delicious.
Have a lovely Christmas, Nancy, and thank you for your kind words on my blog.

Forest Goodies and Other Projects

Hello Crafty Friends. I just got the Stamperia Forest Paper and Die Cuts in the mail so I had to play with them right away.   I have a combo creation - journal page and card.  On the journal page I used my 6x6 Dina Wakley Journal and laid a base of gesso.  I then used Dina's pastel crayons and some SU! inks and stamps.  Also added in some TH Dress Ink in Vintage Photo since I don't know how to make anything without it  (seriously).   The eagle is a Stamperia Forest die cut and is coated with gesso.  Did a bit of stenciling and distressing to finish the page off.  I am linking this the the **Art*Journal*Journey* September Texture Theme (last day - can't wait to see what October's Theme will be).  The die cut and the little smears add texture to the already very textured page.   I love the blue and green together and was inspired to made a quick card for my Son-in-law who cut down some tree limbs for us the other day.  The paper in the middle is from the Stamperia Forest

A Martini, Peanut Butter Cupakes, and Art

Hello Friends. Today, I have an ecletic mix of drinks, dessert, and art. First, it's T-day somewhere in the world so time for a drink post which I am linking to Elizabeth's Blog - Altered Book Lover.  Last week we had a work related dinner.  When the waitress asked what I wanted to drink, I had a sudden craving for a martini.  I use to love them, but I guess my tastes have changed because I wasn't a fan.  I was a fan of the chips and dips though! And the day before, I brought my Sister's fabulous peanut butter cupcakes.  Mainly because I was craving them and couldn't ask her to make just one..... Over at **Art*Journal*Journey* Elle picked a theme of Books, Cats, and Tea (you can pick one, two or three of the items).  I did a Bible Journal Page in my Journaling Bible - Luke 13:24-25.  After a layer of Gesso, I took a Sharpie pen and drew the kitty, then the narrow door, and then colored the door with Arteza Brush pens. The verse was written with a Micron pen.  This

Milkshake Malt Porter and a Bit of Art

Hello friends and Happy T-day. It has been hit or miss with me lately on T-day posts. The remodel of our house next door has taken our mental and physical energy.  I think a few more weeks and things will be on the contractor instead of us.  Hopefully I will be back to normal by then. My Oldest Darling Daughter asked if we wanted to come for dinner Saturday.  Translation:  go to the store with me and we will bring part of dinner to your house and you cook the rest.  While at the store, I saw one 6 pack of this fun milkshake porter so, of course, I bought it.  It smells wonderful (a hint of chocolate and a hit of malt) and has a light creamy taste.  I would definitely buy it again if I see it.  My son-in-law did not like it, but he is more a  Miller Lite fan.  Now if this had been a whiskey, he would have been all over it.  LOL.  Linking this to Elizabeth's blog for the T-party gang. Darling Daughter had tried her hand at dried pintos, and she rocked them (I will begging for a rep
