A Bit of Tea, Horses, and a Cowboy

I love when my children follow in my footsteps and beyond (only the cool footsteps, of course).

My daughter, Allie, has developed a love of tea.  She sent me this picture over the weekend of her having tea in her newly remodelled bedroom.

She was drinking Breakfast in Paris tea in one of her favorite thrift store mugs.  This is my ticket to the T-day gathering over at Elizabeth's blog.  To join us, all you have to do is have a drink related post (can be any type of drink).

The neighborhood horses have been gathering in our backyard for some reason.

Our horse refuses to come up near our house because the lady who owns all these horses gives her much better treats.  They all jump the fences and visit everyone.  The mule in the picture is actually named after me because I named one of cows after the neighbor (he paid me back - lol). I gave them apples when they came on Sunday, and they have come back every day since - lol.  We had a bit of sadness yesterday when another neighborhood horse came over and passed in our pen.  The men all had to get their tractors and all the neighbors came over to help.  It was super sad as the horse was well loved by many children and adults.

I have a card to share as well.  My grandsons made the background with alchol markers, and I recycled a Christmas card they received from my Sister-in-law. The card was so cute, we had to recycle it.

Happy T-day!

Hugz,

Nancy

  1. My understanding of horses is really dim. Do they really just roam around from house to house like a bunch of teenagers? I had no idea. Very interesting. And do they just suddenly drop dead? Amazing.

    1. Mae, I don't know if it is common for them to roam around like teenagers but they do on our street. The two properties next door are fenced and they have horses and all the horse just jump the fences and spend all their time together - they are very social (all are girls).

  2. Those horses and the mule named Nancy are handsome. I'd almost take a donkey myself as they really have some wonderful expressions on their faces. And I love how they visit from place to place too. It must be nice to be able to do that, but so sad about the one that passed. I've heard that are are actual horse whisperers who can learn about the horses lives. Do you know if that is true? And that is a wonderful tea cup photo too. Have a great T day Nancy. Hope 2022 is going well for you. hugs-Erika

    1. Erika, I have heard that too. I have heard there are classes for people who have the gift even! We stayed at a farm in Tennessee (bed and breakfast) and she could so some really awesome communication with horses and used them to help people with anxiety and other issues. Amazing stuff.

  3. So sad about losing one of the horses-but how fun they come to visit for treats. The photo of the tea in the lovely cup with the backdrop of those lamps should be in a magazine-or even a tea advertisement-really beautiful. Going through things yesterday I spent time getting all of my teas in containers and in one spot-many of them are quite old as they get forgotten or buried somewhere-so I plenty of tea choices now smiles Happy T hugs

  6. I LOVE the tea cup your daughter shared. It is beautiful. She has a good eye for thrifting.

So sad to read about the horse. Had to laugh your neighbor gives your horse better treats, though. That is an absolutely adorable card. Thanks for sharing your art, the horse stories, and your daughter's tea with us for T this Tuesday, dear Nancy.

  13. Having horses in your backyard sounds quite cool - I only have the neighbors' cats... However, a dead horse is sad. - The card is really cute, especially the dog.

  14. That's so sad about the horse but still amazing to have them in your backyard. I can see why you love that card :)
Tea's a funny drink, I'm British but my dad used to make such strong tea and used loose leaf that it made me a coffee drinker. I do drink the odd cup of tea but relatively weak :)

  15. A beautiful cup of tea Nancy, such a beautifully staged photograph as well. How lovely to have the horses gather in your back yard, although rather sad that one died - we used to live in the New Forest in Hampshire and the ponies would wander into the garden and come and tap on the windows in the winter! Your card is fabulous, a super background and lovely image - a great joint effort with your grandsons.

  16. Oh I never knew horses did that. I should have known as they are social animals and live in groups in the wild. Haha, I can just picture these 'girls' gossiping about where the best treats are in the neighborhood. lol.
Nancy the mule is looking good (I assume that is her in the picture).
I love your daughter's thrift store mug. She has good taste. And the glimpse we have of her bedroom looks good too. (Our daughter has a similar taste)
What a cute card. Yes, that one definitely needed a mention.
    Happy T-Day,
    Hugs,

  17. Awwww, that is sad about the horse passing. I have a connection to horses but have never owned one. You are so lucky to have them all around you. I really like the tea cup and the card is too cute. Have a good day today.

  18. Your daughter's photo is so beautiful, she clearly knows how to stage that cup - even I might be tempted to try some tea again (I won't - it makes me ill)
What sad story about the horse, but the idea of those horses causing havoc did make me smile(sorry!)
    Belated Happy T Day, Chrisx

I love the recycled card, such a cute image.

Forest Goodies and Other Projects

Hello Crafty Friends. I just got the Stamperia Forest Paper and Die Cuts in the mail so I had to play with them right away.   I have a combo creation - journal page and card.  On the journal page I used my 6x6 Dina Wakley Journal and laid a base of gesso.  I then used Dina's pastel crayons and some SU! inks and stamps.  Also added in some TH Dress Ink in Vintage Photo since I don't know how to make anything without it  (seriously).   The eagle is a Stamperia Forest die cut and is coated with gesso.  Did a bit of stenciling and distressing to finish the page off.  I am linking this the the **Art*Journal*Journey* September Texture Theme (last day - can't wait to see what October's Theme will be).  The die cut and the little smears add texture to the already very textured page.   I love the blue and green together and was inspired to made a quick card for my Son-in-law who cut down some tree limbs for us the other day.  The paper in the middle is from the Stamperia Forest

A Martini, Peanut Butter Cupakes, and Art

Hello Friends. Today, I have an ecletic mix of drinks, dessert, and art. First, it's T-day somewhere in the world so time for a drink post which I am linking to Elizabeth's Blog - Altered Book Lover.  Last week we had a work related dinner.  When the waitress asked what I wanted to drink, I had a sudden craving for a martini.  I use to love them, but I guess my tastes have changed because I wasn't a fan.  I was a fan of the chips and dips though! And the day before, I brought my Sister's fabulous peanut butter cupcakes.  Mainly because I was craving them and couldn't ask her to make just one..... Over at **Art*Journal*Journey* Elle picked a theme of Books, Cats, and Tea (you can pick one, two or three of the items).  I did a Bible Journal Page in my Journaling Bible - Luke 13:24-25.  After a layer of Gesso, I took a Sharpie pen and drew the kitty, then the narrow door, and then colored the door with Arteza Brush pens. The verse was written with a Micron pen.  This

Milkshake Malt Porter and a Bit of Art

Hello friends and Happy T-day. It has been hit or miss with me lately on T-day posts. The remodel of our house next door has taken our mental and physical energy.  I think a few more weeks and things will be on the contractor instead of us.  Hopefully I will be back to normal by then. My Oldest Darling Daughter asked if we wanted to come for dinner Saturday.  Translation:  go to the store with me and we will bring part of dinner to your house and you cook the rest.  While at the store, I saw one 6 pack of this fun milkshake porter so, of course, I bought it.  It smells wonderful (a hint of chocolate and a hit of malt) and has a light creamy taste.  I would definitely buy it again if I see it.  My son-in-law did not like it, but he is more a  Miller Lite fan.  Now if this had been a whiskey, he would have been all over it.  LOL.  Linking this to Elizabeth's blog for the T-party gang. Darling Daughter had tried her hand at dried pintos, and she rocked them (I will begging for a rep
