T is for Time with Friends and Family Plus Some Art

I was lucky enough to get to hang out with my work family last week.  Here are some pictures of a few of them.

Those pictures are all as we were just arriving and sitting down.  We had an all day meeting and then we went to Dreamland Barbeque again.  It is an easy place to go to with a large group so we default to that place when we have limited time to plan.

Here is my drink - I got the chocolate oatmeal stout.  They brew it in the restaurant.  The location was a brewery several years ago, and they kept the equipment and continue making the beer.  The chocolate oatmeal stout is one of the best I have tried and you all know I have tried a bunch!  LOL.  This is my ticket to the T-day party over at Elizabeth's blog.
I also got to spend some time with one of my daughters and my three grandson's last week.  We went to an interactive museum in Birmingham, Alabama.  Here they are right before we went in.  I love this picture!  You can see the Alabama Theater sign and a bit of downtown Birmingham.

And I had more time for art this week! Here are a few of the cards I made.  The first one was done using the video from Watercolor Wednesday at Splitcoaststampers.com.  Here is a link to the video - I totally recommend it.  Kolbie Blume is amazing.  I even did this on regular paper and not watercolor paper....

I also cased a few cards from Sandye who is the Featured Stamper at Splitcoaststampers.com this week.  I cased THIS card for my Shakespeare Birthday card.  The image is by Octopode Factory and is still available on Etsy even though Lilly is gone (it still hurts me to say that as I was a huge fan).

I cased THIS card of Sandye's for this card and I used another Octopode Factory image.

This card was done for the Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoaststampers.com.  I was inspired by THIS fun Charlie Brown image. The sofa image is an old SU! image that I still love.  I put some books behind it as I love to read when I am on the sofa.
This was done to send to a lovely lady who is battling a major health war and loves purple (hence the purple splatters).  The challenge was to use one main color and then things that started with the same letter as your color.  Since my main color is pink, I used liquid pearls and purple.  The sentiment is from SU! and the flamingo image is from Rubbernecker.  Isn't that image fun?
Thanks for visiting!  Hope you had a wonderful week full of time with family, friends and art as well.

Hugz,

Nancy

  1. Chocolate oatmeal stout has an interesting sound to it. Why limit chocolate + alcohol to only liqueurs?

    Wonderful cards!
My Brother is always late, too. Drives me nuts.

  7. Oh I like a good chocolate stout. It's like getting 2 of the best things in life in one sip. Smile. And I do miss those after work get togethers. I did meet some now retired work friends for breakfast today, which was a lot of fun. Your pictures made me smile. And that includes the grandkids and your daughter too. And I also must say I am with you with Shakespeare. I haven't heard of the Octopode Factory in some time. I hope you have a lovely T day and week ahead Nancy. Hugs-Erika

  8. I'm having trouble leaving comments, but sure enjoyed seeing your "work family." And of course the chocolate stout sounds absolutely perfect. Of course, any stout sounds perfect (grin).

LOVED those cards. You and Sharon create the most wonderful ones and never seem to make more than one of each. Since I'm not a stamper, I had no idea who or what Otopode Factory was. I did, however, love each of your cards. Thanks for sharing your stout and your cards with us for T this Tuesday, dear Nancy. LOVED seeing your daughter and brood, too.

  13. Hi Nancy,
it looks like you have a very nice work family - that's a blessing. (Unfortunately it was different in my working life, but fortunately it's over.) Are you in the photos - and if so, which ones? Also the photo of your daughter and your three grandsons looks like fun. And I think your cards are great.

Forest Goodies and Other Projects

Hello Crafty Friends. I just got the Stamperia Forest Paper and Die Cuts in the mail so I had to play with them right away.   I have a combo creation - journal page and card.  On the journal page I used my 6x6 Dina Wakley Journal and laid a base of gesso.  I then used Dina's pastel crayons and some SU! inks and stamps.  Also added in some TH Dress Ink in Vintage Photo since I don't know how to make anything without it  (seriously).   The eagle is a Stamperia Forest die cut and is coated with gesso.  Did a bit of stenciling and distressing to finish the page off.  I am linking this the the **Art*Journal*Journey* September Texture Theme (last day - can't wait to see what October's Theme will be).  The die cut and the little smears add texture to the already very textured page.   I love the blue and green together and was inspired to made a quick card for my Son-in-law who cut down some tree limbs for us the other day.  The paper in the middle is from the Stamperia Forest

A Martini, Peanut Butter Cupakes, and Art

Hello Friends. Today, I have an ecletic mix of drinks, dessert, and art. First, it's T-day somewhere in the world so time for a drink post which I am linking to Elizabeth's Blog - Altered Book Lover.  Last week we had a work related dinner.  When the waitress asked what I wanted to drink, I had a sudden craving for a martini.  I use to love them, but I guess my tastes have changed because I wasn't a fan.  I was a fan of the chips and dips though! And the day before, I brought my Sister's fabulous peanut butter cupcakes.  Mainly because I was craving them and couldn't ask her to make just one..... Over at **Art*Journal*Journey* Elle picked a theme of Books, Cats, and Tea (you can pick one, two or three of the items).  I did a Bible Journal Page in my Journaling Bible - Luke 13:24-25.  After a layer of Gesso, I took a Sharpie pen and drew the kitty, then the narrow door, and then colored the door with Arteza Brush pens. The verse was written with a Micron pen.  This

Milkshake Malt Porter and a Bit of Art

Hello friends and Happy T-day. It has been hit or miss with me lately on T-day posts. The remodel of our house next door has taken our mental and physical energy.  I think a few more weeks and things will be on the contractor instead of us.  Hopefully I will be back to normal by then. My Oldest Darling Daughter asked if we wanted to come for dinner Saturday.  Translation:  go to the store with me and we will bring part of dinner to your house and you cook the rest.  While at the store, I saw one 6 pack of this fun milkshake porter so, of course, I bought it.  It smells wonderful (a hint of chocolate and a hit of malt) and has a light creamy taste.  I would definitely buy it again if I see it.  My son-in-law did not like it, but he is more a  Miller Lite fan.  Now if this had been a whiskey, he would have been all over it.  LOL.  Linking this to Elizabeth's blog for the T-party gang. Darling Daughter had tried her hand at dried pintos, and she rocked them (I will begging for a rep
