T is for Thursday Night Corona and a Bit of Art

Hello friends!

Happy T-day to the T-day gang over at Elizabeth's blog where we share some type of drink in our posts.  After the Cousin match up which you can read about HERE if you missed it, Alex and I headed to the Mexican restaurant.  We ordered Corona Lights to go with our chips and salsa and shared the new Texas Surprize dish (shrimp, chicken, steak and veggies over rice and topped with cheese dip - yum, yum).  We split it but I ended up with enough for lunch the next day too. I forgot to get a picture of that - it was late and we were tired and hot.

I was able to make some fun art over the long weekend.

This one was for two Splitcoaststamper.com challenges - I had been playing around with 3-D ice cream sandwiches and made this fun card for my sweet but stressed daughter.
This was for the CAS challenge on Splitcoaststampers.com - we were to come up with a fun frame of some kind.  I used leftovers from my next creation to make the frame. Stamps are from Stampendous and redlead.
This is my favorite because it has one of my favorite pictures of all time on it.  The base is part of an Amazon box which I painted up with white gesso and inked up with metalic inks.  The wing is made from tons of fussy cut feathers from DRS Designs.  I am linking this up to Neet's **Art*Journal*Journey* theme of fur or feathers
Hope you had a lovely weekend and hope this week is full of joy.

Hugz,

Nancy

  1. I'll start with the journal page you created, Nancy. The wing full of feathers is beautiful. I can't believe you fussy cut all those feathers and made the absolute perfect wing. Thanks for sharing this with us at Art Journal Journey using Neet's theme.

I loved the cards and the dessert quote on the first one. I also love that old truck. What an amazing image and colored beautifully, too.

Sounds like your Corona went well with the chips, salsa, and Texas Surprise meal you two shared. Thanks for sharing your art, your cards, and your beer and food with us for T this week, dear Nancy.

  2. No kidding, I read "Corona" sells bad sice people think of COVID reading the name - not true? (Here the visrus is called Corona).
I just thought about mmexican food! Sadly Ingo cannot go to restaurants and hates Mexican food per se.

Love your 3-D-Card, great idea (I would tke a pizza, though ;-)...)

Christmas?! I saw Christmas trees at the hardware-store on Saturday!
Your card is very beautiful, though.

    Let´s fly!
Happy T-Day and to a great week, hugz!

  3. Your favorite is my favorite card as well - it's gorgeous! I like the effect of the white gesso and the metallic ink on the cardboard. I'm not even sure I have seen metallic ink - I need to look for that. Our art supply store has its back-to-school sale and since I need watercolor paper I have to go there anyway. I will look for those inks then. Happy T day, Nancy, and a great week.

  4. The Texas Surprize sounds rather yummy Nancy, a shame you forgot to photograph it! Fabulous crafty projects, I love the texture you had added with the corrugated card.

  5. Wow, some great artwork here Nancy. Love the feathers on the wing and what a fabulous LO this is. The words "Fly darling" are so appropriate, especially from a mom. The whole piece has a very textural feel about it with the corrugated background and the wing.
Your ice cream sandwich made me smile and I am sure it did the same for your darling daughter, and the Christmas card, well, that is terrific, love the way you used red to bring such a pop to the page with the aiuto.
Thanks for a lovely post and for joining in with my challenge with such a fab entry.
    `hugs, Neet xx
    ps love the Corona Lights.

  6. Happy t day Nancy. Your chips and beer look good. A little Mexican food is always yummy, isn’t it? And you had a productive art weekend. The Christmas page is amazing. I like you corrugated cardboard edge. And that’s a great page for Neet’s challenge too. I love the big wing. It’s a great addition and I do t know if you made the page around it but it works excellent. Thanks for sharing with us as AJJ

  8. A Mexican restaurant sounds wonderful. I have been using ready-made tortillas and salsa a lot for our lunch with other stuff like cheese, but I'd love to be at the table where they bring it to you and it's oversalted (like I'm too responsible to do at home) and there's a beer!

  14. These are beautiful cards Nancy! I love that "stressed" card with the chocolate for sure! Your Christmas is stunning with the snowy look and your darling photo looks like it brought about some great memories as you were making it! Wonderful post!!

  15. Hi Nancy! I love all three of your works of art, so much! Each one is beautiful in it's own way. The chocolate, ice cream sandwich card is fantastic. (I love that it's 3-d!) I bet your sweet daughter really enjoyed it! The Christmas in the country card is absolutely gorgeous - it has such a nostalgic feel. And I can see why the last one is your favorite. What a wonderful photo that is so full of joy and happiness. And the sentiment is just perfect. I really enjoyed seeing all 3 of these. Take care! Hugs, Sharon

Forest Goodies and Other Projects

Hello Crafty Friends. I just got the Stamperia Forest Paper and Die Cuts in the mail so I had to play with them right away.   I have a combo creation - journal page and card.  On the journal page I used my 6x6 Dina Wakley Journal and laid a base of gesso.  I then used Dina's pastel crayons and some SU! inks and stamps.  Also added in some TH Dress Ink in Vintage Photo since I don't know how to make anything without it  (seriously).   The eagle is a Stamperia Forest die cut and is coated with gesso.  Did a bit of stenciling and distressing to finish the page off.  I am linking this the the **Art*Journal*Journey* September Texture Theme (last day - can't wait to see what October's Theme will be).  The die cut and the little smears add texture to the already very textured page.   I love the blue and green together and was inspired to made a quick card for my Son-in-law who cut down some tree limbs for us the other day.  The paper in the middle is from the Stamperia Forest

A Martini, Peanut Butter Cupakes, and Art

Hello Friends. Today, I have an ecletic mix of drinks, dessert, and art. First, it's T-day somewhere in the world so time for a drink post which I am linking to Elizabeth's Blog - Altered Book Lover.  Last week we had a work related dinner.  When the waitress asked what I wanted to drink, I had a sudden craving for a martini.  I use to love them, but I guess my tastes have changed because I wasn't a fan.  I was a fan of the chips and dips though! And the day before, I brought my Sister's fabulous peanut butter cupcakes.  Mainly because I was craving them and couldn't ask her to make just one..... Over at **Art*Journal*Journey* Elle picked a theme of Books, Cats, and Tea (you can pick one, two or three of the items).  I did a Bible Journal Page in my Journaling Bible - Luke 13:24-25.  After a layer of Gesso, I took a Sharpie pen and drew the kitty, then the narrow door, and then colored the door with Arteza Brush pens. The verse was written with a Micron pen.  This

Milkshake Malt Porter and a Bit of Art

Hello friends and Happy T-day. It has been hit or miss with me lately on T-day posts. The remodel of our house next door has taken our mental and physical energy.  I think a few more weeks and things will be on the contractor instead of us.  Hopefully I will be back to normal by then. My Oldest Darling Daughter asked if we wanted to come for dinner Saturday.  Translation:  go to the store with me and we will bring part of dinner to your house and you cook the rest.  While at the store, I saw one 6 pack of this fun milkshake porter so, of course, I bought it.  It smells wonderful (a hint of chocolate and a hit of malt) and has a light creamy taste.  I would definitely buy it again if I see it.  My son-in-law did not like it, but he is more a  Miller Lite fan.  Now if this had been a whiskey, he would have been all over it.  LOL.  Linking this to Elizabeth's blog for the T-party gang. Darling Daughter had tried her hand at dried pintos, and she rocked them (I will begging for a rep
