The Mystery of Time, the Start of a Snowball Fight, and Some Chunky Mixed Media All Mixed Together

 Hello friends.

It's a new Year and a new pledge to do more Bible Journaling, lose weight, declutter, and organize better.  I actually accomplished a few things on my list last year so I have high hopes. 

Over at **Art*Journal*Journey* Mia has us using photos in our Mixed Media Journaling. 

I used a fun picture my daughter took the other day and and also took inspiration from THIS cool clock. The clock was part of the inspiration challenge over at Splitcoaststampers.com. 

This is a chunky page! Gesso on the bottom, and then a layer of modeling paste which I pressed a clock and some gear images into (old SU! set).  After the paste dried, I did a few water color washes, stamped on some snowflakes, and dabbed on some Tim Holtz distress ink.  Next came some white paint splatters, Snowtex, and Stickles Gel (love the stars in that stuff). You can see the chunkiness in this close up. 

The bible verses are from Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 - the Mystery of Time.  These verses are so powerful.  Everything has meaning and everything has its season.  Time and seasons wait for no one, but go on according to God's design and not ours. So many more meanings and wisdom in these words!  

I am focusing on the time to dance and laugh (all positive and fun).  They are playing and running in the snow in this picture. We don't get much snow where we live so it is always exciting to see it and play in it.  Now it is back to school and work after a fun week of playing. 

Hoping you are having a lovely start to the New Year.  I am cooking a pork roast, jambalaya dressing (I made it up this morning using my Grandmother's old New Year dressing as the base - has two kinds of sausage, chicken and a bit of rice), greens and sausage, and black eyed peas.  Yum, Yum!!

    Hello and Happy New Year, Nancy! I really love the mixed media on this page and a wonderful photo, perfect for Mia's AJJ theme. My g-g-g-grandfather Newberry lived on Weiss Lake at Newberry Corners, so I have Alabama in my family tree. After the Psalms, these Bible verses are among my favorite and always helpful to me to try to retain that perspective. XOX

Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. My tag is made from an old cardboard box top which I peeled down, painted, distressed a bit, and then added some snow medium. My bow is actually a new bow designed by Pamela Lehto (available at Squigglefly tomorrow). Stamps, Books, Found Relatives, and More Food

 Don't you love getting new stuff?  This is my fun new stuff from  Red Lead Paperworks .   I ordered the fun vintage looking deer stamp and the three Christmas greetings - all were on sale a few weeks ago.  I love getting their packages because they always send some extra little goodies like collage sheets and old tickets plus even their packaging is cute and reusable.  The sheet with the leaves and acorns on the bottom is the other side of the invoice so you can reuse it as well.  I can't wait to play with these fun goodies.  Here is a look at my current reading pile.  I checked Basil's War by Stephen Hunter from the library, my daughter lent me The Paper Palace, and I bought The Host, Going Back to Petrey, and The Lady in Blue from the Thrift Store. I am reading Basil's War and The Lady in Blue at the same time - something I really shouldn't do especially since both books are the kind that switch between stories every chapter.  Th...
