A few Sunday Afternoon Creations

I had a little time today to play (after my nap which I love almost as much as crafting)... so I decided to jump in and attempt the Retro Sketch challenge#21. Several of my very good friends participate and their cards are always scrumptious. I love how this came out and it is going to a dear friend who will not get it in time for her birthday but she will understand. I am sending her all the materials to make a card like it if she wants plus a few more goodies.

Here is the fun sketch:

It is a sketch from a card done by Tracey McNeely. What a fun sketch! Here is my attempt:
I used a piece of a box for the tag (I just peeled off the top layer), some ribbon I got from JoAnns for 99 cents a few weeks ago, and a SU! Birthday image as the recipient is a SU! demo. The papers are all SU! and HL Everyday Kraft.

My last creation of the weekend is a card for the SplitCoast Stamper's Teapot Tuesday Challenge. This week's challenge involved giraffes and our cards are going off to Alex who loves giraffes and is recovering from some pretty tough medical challenges for a teenage girl. I used some GCWV Safari paper, stash ribbon, and some Paper Studio animal gems. The image is from SU! and the stars were cut with a CM punch.

    Very creative with your first card using part of a box...which gives it a vintage look but you softened it with your doily...a nice balance there. And your second card for the tea party is really sweet and I'm sure will be so appreciated, I think I will try and send a card from my stash, I did send a card to Gypsy from one of the tea parties that I managed to make it to.

    I just reread your card description and realized that this card is going to Alex, I was thinking it was for Gypsy's friend...I really do need to get caught up with the tea parties

    LOVE the tag card, Nancy!! You know my love for corrugated paper and you used it fabulously. Adorable little raffie too. I'm sure it will be greatly appreciated when received :)

    What a super tag with the corrugated paper and the awesome ribbon. And, the giraffe card is just too cute. Hey, those naps may be the reason you are 'cool as a cucumber'..referring to the wedding plans, of course. :-)

Hello Crafty Friends! I love Halle's theme at **Art*Journal*Journey* this month: Botanicals. So many possibilities... I combined the botanical theme with some of the colors in ARTNUDGE#725A and came up with this Bible Art Journal page focusing on 1 Timothy 2:1-2. I also made a patriotic prayer card too. In these verses, Paul tells Timothy (and all of us) to pray for everyone but he especially calls out prayer for kings and leaders. He indicates that this type of prayer could lead us to a tranquil and quite life in all godliness and dignity. I think we can all agree that the world needs much prayer right now and it is an easy step we can take.   I experimented on this journal page. I usually cover any bible journal pages with gesso before painting on them, but I have issues with the gesso gumming up my Micron pens or unevenly taking color. This time I used Daniel Smith Ground Medium in Titanium White (I mixed it with 10 parts water). I loved it and will be using it in the fut...

Wise Words for Life's Storms

 My first post as a Guest Designer for Creative Worship Stamps. This watercolor and ink card features one of my favorite CWS sentiments - Big God . I am so grateful He is there in storms and this stamp beautifully underscores His power. The main panel of this card is watercolor paper and was painted with Daniel Smith Watercolors and Liquid Ink (the white highlights in the rain drops).
