A Counter Full of Geometric Shapes

Hello Crafty Friends,

I received some fun new toys from REDlead this week:  Small Mason Jar, Paris Tickets, Bee, Bird Stencil, and Destiny/Angel Stencil.  I couldn't wait to play with them!  Here is a picture of it all.  I don't normally show pictures of my shopping hauls, but this one was so pretty.  Sharon tied up up the stamps with pretty ribbons, put the bee stamp in the cutest box, stamped the mailing envelop with some of her images, sent that cute mushroom full of tiny tags, and sent some pretty little messages/advertisements that can be easy recycled.  It was probably the coolest package I have received from any company ever.  Of course, I have already ordered more because I fell in love with that little angel image she stamped next to the bird below.  Adorable.  Sweet and smart on her part as well.

My first BAJ page is Psalm 61: Security in God (which we all need right now).  Using gesso, I first laid down an old music page (the song is Mockingbird Hill) I found in a give-away pile at a flea market a few months ago.  Then I stenciled on some birds and chicken wire using Vintage Photo DI.  I added in some circles (old SU! set) and stamped on some Paris Tickets and and old O.K. for Payment Insurance Stamp (found at a garage sale in Birmingham).  I really wanted to use my new jar stamp so I stamped two, fussy cut them, stamped on some parts of the bee stamp and then wrote in some verses from Psalm 61.  I decided to draw in some wings on the top jar since the verse talks about the shelter of God's wings.
Then I wanted to try the Destiny/Angel stencil from REDlead on the sister page. I used Vintage Photo DI and a bit of Black Soot.  To tie it in with the other page, I stamped in a few circles.  The background is a floral stencil.

Since I had the Vintage Photo Ink out (when do I not have it out?), I made a card for the Featured Stamper Challenge at SCS.  I cased THIS card made by Karen Decknick (stampingokaren).  The flower stamp is from Close to My Heart and the Thinking of You sentiment is from the SU! Good Morning Magnolia set.  After adding a halo of ink on the edges, I splattered it all with water.  Gives is a little sad look and I really like how it came out.
Then I decided I should do something with absolutely no Vintage Photo ink. I used More Mustard from SU! It looks like Vintage Photo but it isn't.  The base is part of a tempura paint giant rainbow paper my Grandson Lewis gave me.  He painted it at Church one night and I have had it in my craft room a few months.  It is super large and I figured I could recycle it in my Bible and keep it for a long time.  Maybe one day he will run across it and cherish it (probably not but a fun thought anyway).  I painted on some white gesso, tore a hymnal page with the Everything is Figureoutable Impression Obsession sentiment stamped on it, and then added some fussy cut bees from REDlead.  It needed something so I stenciled on some chickenwire/honeycomb and a few circles.  I decided the circles should be filled with microbeads (Recollection).  I wrote in some of the scripture from Psalms 56: A Call for God's Protection.  I find all these protection Psalms to be so comforting right now.  Hoping things start improving soon!!!!
As I have lots and lots of geometric shapes, I am linking this post to the **Art*Journal*Journey* challenge.

Hugzzz and Bee Well!

  6. I love Vintage and this page of yours is just perfect - I absolutely adore that jar stamp! I am a big fan of bees, so obviously I like the fact that you have used them too and in the page with the colour on they really come into their own. Two delightful pages and a lovely card.
    Thanks for sharing

  8. That is a really lovely package to receive - I'm not surprised you wanted to share your pleasure in it. And lovely to see that super Mason jar stamp go straight into action on your beautiful sepia pages. I love those shimmering wings on the top jar! The layers of stamping and stencilling just show that you don't need lots of different colours to create something of great depth and substance.

Forest Goodies and Other Projects

Hello Crafty Friends. I just got the Stamperia Forest Paper and Die Cuts in the mail so I had to play with them right away.   I have a combo creation - journal page and card.  On the journal page I used my 6x6 Dina Wakley Journal and laid a base of gesso.  I then used Dina's pastel crayons and some SU! inks and stamps.  Also added in some TH Dress Ink in Vintage Photo since I don't know how to make anything without it  (seriously).   The eagle is a Stamperia Forest die cut and is coated with gesso.  Did a bit of stenciling and distressing to finish the page off.  I am linking this the the **Art*Journal*Journey* September Texture Theme (last day - can't wait to see what October's Theme will be).  The die cut and the little smears add texture to the already very textured page.   I love the blue and green together and was inspired to made a quick card for my Son-in-law who cut down some tree limbs for us the other day.  The paper in the middle is from the Stamperia Forest

A Martini, Peanut Butter Cupakes, and Art

Hello Friends. Today, I have an ecletic mix of drinks, dessert, and art. First, it's T-day somewhere in the world so time for a drink post which I am linking to Elizabeth's Blog - Altered Book Lover.  Last week we had a work related dinner.  When the waitress asked what I wanted to drink, I had a sudden craving for a martini.  I use to love them, but I guess my tastes have changed because I wasn't a fan.  I was a fan of the chips and dips though! And the day before, I brought my Sister's fabulous peanut butter cupcakes.  Mainly because I was craving them and couldn't ask her to make just one..... Over at **Art*Journal*Journey* Elle picked a theme of Books, Cats, and Tea (you can pick one, two or three of the items).  I did a Bible Journal Page in my Journaling Bible - Luke 13:24-25.  After a layer of Gesso, I took a Sharpie pen and drew the kitty, then the narrow door, and then colored the door with Arteza Brush pens. The verse was written with a Micron pen.  This

Milkshake Malt Porter and a Bit of Art

Hello friends and Happy T-day. It has been hit or miss with me lately on T-day posts. The remodel of our house next door has taken our mental and physical energy.  I think a few more weeks and things will be on the contractor instead of us.  Hopefully I will be back to normal by then. My Oldest Darling Daughter asked if we wanted to come for dinner Saturday.  Translation:  go to the store with me and we will bring part of dinner to your house and you cook the rest.  While at the store, I saw one 6 pack of this fun milkshake porter so, of course, I bought it.  It smells wonderful (a hint of chocolate and a hit of malt) and has a light creamy taste.  I would definitely buy it again if I see it.  My son-in-law did not like it, but he is more a  Miller Lite fan.  Now if this had been a whiskey, he would have been all over it.  LOL.  Linking this to Elizabeth's blog for the T-party gang. Darling Daughter had tried her hand at dried pintos, and she rocked them (I will begging for a rep
