Psalms 52 and Lots of Paint!

The theme for April at **Art*Journal*Journey* is Geometric shapes.  What a cool theme and so easy to incorporate in our projects.  Here is my project for today:

 I am going through Psalms in my Journaling Bible, and I messed up a few pages and skipped them. I am going back and fixing them now that I have some white gesso - lol.

I printed out some of the scripture on rice paper (experiment) and the did a layer of clear gesso over it. It did not smear like some other ones I printed, but I think that was a light hand that saved me. I printed the words out because I wanted to be able to cover the words with the cross but didn't want to actually cover words in the actual scripture part of my page. Then I just started painting crosses and stenciling circles. I added in a little bit of a music sheet, stenciled be humble and added in some Ephemera (TH).

This Psalm is a warning to everyone to be humble, not trust in your riches, and to avoid destructive behavior (gossip, plotting against others, lying, etc.). Instead we should be humble, sharing, build up others, and put our trust in God; stay faithful to God.

My concept is that the butterfly is Christ who transformed us with the cross and and He is saying to us I love you but be humble.

I feel like this is a message God is giving us right now.

I also wanted to share a scrapbook page I finished yesterday.
It is going in my 8.5x11 scrapbook of historical markers and fun places my husband I have visited. We visited the Indian Baths in near the western coast of Alabama in early March (before all the restrictions).  The background paper was made by my middle Grandson, Patton.  He dipped the paper in a mixture of inks sprayed with water.  He said "Nanna, it looks like fire."  It has a bunch of yellow in it too, but that got covered up with all the journaling and pictures.

    Both of your pages are beautiful Nancy, and both so different. I love all the geometrical forms you have used in your Bible journaling, so bold and eye-catching.     I love the geometric designs on your journal pages. The colors caught my eye too. Those little splashes of brights really pull it all together.     Your Bible journal pages are great. I love the idea of using rice paper in your printer, something I have not tried. It turned out great and the various geometric shapes are amazing. Thanks for sharing this with us at Art Journal Journey.

    Your scrapbook page is wonderful I always hate to cover my favorite backgrounds, so I might have hoarded that beautiful page your grandson made. What a fun adventure and I'm not familiar with much of Alabama, so that was fun to see.

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

 I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

A Covered Bridge, a Shotgun Wedding, Patton Wisdom, and Some Art

 On our recent vaction, hubby and I got back to our historical marker seeking.  This time we visited the Clarkson Covered Bridge. It is super long and very cool.  We also found a website HERE that has a mapped out tour of Alabama where you can visit 7 in one day - a fun trip for a Fall weekend.  This is the only picture I took of the bridge. The day before, we visited the Patton Musuem at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and viewed Ft. Knox from as close as they will let you get. They say there is still a ton of gold in Ft. Knox - trillions of dollars worth.  We liked the Patton Museum.  I don't agree with most of Patton's management style, but do respect that he accomplished much.  I was impressed with some of his leadership statements like this one which I totally agree with: They have some fabulous items at the museum - hubby could have looked for hours and hours if I had let him.
