A Bit of Rusty Lamentations, This Year's Christmas Tree, and Some Lovely Wreaths

 I am still working in Lamentations in my Bible Journaling.

The MIX challenge on SCS this past week was to use some "garbage" in your creation and the **Art Journal*Journey* theme is "The Meaning Of" so how did I get here?  

*Saw Lydia said use some garbage on your creation and I had a 401K disclosure on my kitchen counter that had a great gears picture with some super colors that looked kind of good for a verse on gold.  

*Lydia did some textured stenciling and my words talked about tarnishing so I thought it would be good to use my Stamperia pipes stencil and use some rusty looking paste (plus I remembered Elizabeth's rust pages HERE).  

*So I used some gesso to glue down the page from the disclosure, tore off a few words from it as well and put them down.  

*Then did the layer of textured paste.

*After it dried, I rubbed on some gold paint since the verse is about tarnished gold.

I focused on  Lamentations 4:1 which speaks about the tarnished gold from the temple. I read several commentaries on this and my favorite view was how the look of the gold in the temple may be tarnished but the properties remain unchanged - our hearts and relationship with Christ are the temple and we have the chance to renew it if we focus on God and get things straight, and then it can be beautiful again.  So this is the meaning of my page and how it fits Tracey's journal prompt.

I also wanted to share this year's Christmas tree which has some ancient decorations hubby found in the shed and also my favorite fishing ornaments that we had lost three years ago.  So it is a mix mash of themes, but that works for us these days.  I put treats in the fishing buckets - the grandkids love that!

I made a few cards this weekend that I wanted to share as well - I am having fun painting wreaths!

    That 401K statement really makes an amazing bit on your Bible journaling. Wow. The colors are texture are really amazing. I wish my IRA investment statements came in something like that, but I just get them online. Thanks for sharing at AJJ. Your tree is gorgeous, but I am NOT going to show that photo to my husband or he'll suggested we put our poles on the tree (just to get broken by the dogs). That is really clever using the nets and the bucket. I actually like it a lot. And your cards are as gorgeous as ever.     You had me at RUST, Nancy. I was so impressed with the drawing and the coloring of this entry. What a great way to use your recyclable 401K statement. It fits so well with the Bible verse, too. Thank you for sharing it with us at Art Journal Journey using Tracey's theme.

    I love your tree. The nets are clever and so are the buckets. But that moose is what really caught my eye.

    Another super journal page Nancy and your tree looks fabulous, how lovely that you found the ornaments that you had 'lost'.

    Beautiful cards especially the bottom one. Reminding me of the struggles I have had in making cards as I wanted them to look. I saw a video and decided that was to be my card this year, my special one, and so I hastily sent off for the stamps. Lovely! But could I get this curve to meet up and make a circle - could I NOT! I must have filled my bin with at least twenty pointy circles that simply would not do before abandoning the whole idea and doing something totally different. Then last Saturday during a virtual crop I managed to get three near perfect circles. Now I am hoping to be on a roll - for next Christmas! Too late for this one.

    Love how you have used this as the meaning of and how it became beautiful again, we could use this in so many things in life, a great use repurpose (I do love that stencil..)     Lovely rusty page and I enjoyed finding out how it came together 😊. Your tree look amazing and I adore the moose standing by it - moose are my favourite and we have been lucky enough to see them in the wild a few time too when we visited America.  I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. My tag is made from an old cardboard box top which I peeled down, painted, distressed a bit, and then added some snow medium. My bow is actually a new bow designed by Pamela Lehto (available at Squigglefly tomorrow). Stamps, Books, Found Relatives, and More Food

 Don't you love getting new stuff?  This is my fun new stuff from  Red Lead Paperworks .   I ordered the fun vintage looking deer stamp and the three Christmas greetings - all were on sale a few weeks ago.  I love getting their packages because they always send some extra little goodies like collage sheets and old tickets plus even their packaging is cute and reusable.  The sheet with the leaves and acorns on the bottom is the other side of the invoice so you can reuse it as well.  I can't wait to play with these fun goodies.  Here is a look at my current reading pile.  I checked Basil's War by Stephen Hunter from the library, my daughter lent me The Paper Palace, and I bought The Host, Going Back to Petrey, and The Lady in Blue from the Thrift Store.
