Genealogy, a True Grinch, and Snow

 It is Christmas.  Such a strange Christmas with all that is going on in the world. 

My daughters plan to come over later.  We are doing a bit different menu:  Italian salad, Zuppa Toscano soup, giant baked meatballs, potato lasagna, regular lasagna, and a New York style chocolate chip cheesecake.  I am going off my diet yesterday and today, then back on it Saturday.  

We have some sad things going on in our family, but we are holding each other tight and trying to think positively.  Focusing on "the real meaning of" Christmas helps.

Speaking of "The Meaning Of',"  I did several BAJ pages Tracey's **ART*JOURNAL*JOURNEY* theme. I focused on the meaning of Christmas - the gift of Jesus, and how God aligned many stars in His plan for our salvation through His Son.  From the prophesies, the genealogy of Christ, the escape from Herod's decree, and all the other amazing miracles from that day to today, His love for us is clear and true.   

Matthew 1 - Genealogy of Christ

This was a fun page to do.  The base page was done by laying down a hymnal page with clear gesso, then doing another layer of gesso, then a wash of blue, then some pouncing with some white gesso on a paper towel. I did the berries by dipping my finger in red paint and touching the page.  I added some low and highlights to the berries with a brush, painted on some branches, then added in some snow.  After it all dried, I wrote in the genealogy but didn't try to get them all one branch or anything.  Looking back, that is how I should have done it, but I like it anyway.  I finished it all off with some flecks of SnowTex.  Love that His name means God is with us.  

Matthew 2:  The Wisemen and Herod

Next I did a pretty unusual page featuring Herod as a true Grinch - luckily the wise men were very wise and they saw through his mask.

Also a few snowy cards.  Yesterday was icy cold in Central Alabama and the wind was terrible.  We are not use to that kind of weather so it was tough when we went out.  These cards fit it perfectly.  

The sentients on this one are from DRS and the snow scene was done using gouache colors.

On this next one, I painted the trees first not realizing they were a a bit large for the cabin.  The cabin and sentiment are from DRS Designs.  After I got it all put down, I flecked on some SnowTex and packed some around the cabin.
