This past week, my daughter Crystal and I did a charcuterie tray for our bunco group. We love making them. I really wanted to make it because I wanted to make that meat rose in the middle after watching a tutorial on TikTok - isn't it funny how something like that sticks in your head? It went well with the yummy salads my sister, Sharon, made for the night.
A made a little art this week as well.
I have a spread for Neet's Type Theme at **Art*Journal*Journey* - it was going to be spooky but it took a turn and ended up hauntingly sad instead. Funny how that happens....
The images are all DRS Designs, the stencil is Andy Skinner, and the background is an ISS with Distress Ink.
The card below was made with a fun background I learned during the Dare to Get Dirty event at Splitcoaststampers. It was featured by my friend Shelly. The technique starts with alcohol ink scribbed on velumn, the scribbles are activated with rubbing alcohol, and then splattered with alcohol. The last step is splatters of alcohol ink. It worked out as a great background for this new Witch Gnome and Greeting from DRS Designs.
I tried another great technique featured in the watercolor challenge on Splitcoaststampers this week. This involves doing an ISS background and then inking up images with distress oxide and spritzing them with water before stamping. I made a bunch of cards using it but today I am just sharing one of them (images are DRS).
Here is a fun little tea bag journal I made for my friend Jayne's DTGD challenge at SCS. Tea Bags can be so fun! The stamps are from SU! and the papers are all Stamperia Alice.

ATCs for the week - these are images from Close to My Heart, DRS Designs, and parts of a cut up Martha Stewart Halloween Label. The ghost and broom are from a Tim Holtz Halloween Die. These are my favorite Halloween ATCs I made. Elizabeth, you created a monster! I can't stop making them!

Isn't it fun when you get hooked on something (you and your at's) - I can see why, they are fabulous little works of art. So are the little tea bag pages for your book, I had a spell of being hooked on tea bags, perhaps I should get back into them.
ReplyDeleteThe cards you have made are lovely but I cannot for the life in me think what an ISSS background is. I do like the witchy one especially.
The double page spread on your journal is absolutely lovely. I can see so much in it and could spend ages just sitting looking at it. Lovely muted colours for the background give it a misty look and every one of your images fit in perfectly. It's like looking at a story.

I had such a beer once. Was yummy. Then the phone rang. It was my Brother. Our Mum´d passed. No idea if I can ever drink that beer again - but I should, right! After all it reminds me that she peacefully left us.

ReplyDeleteI am not a beer drinker, but if it tastes like chocolate and coffee, I would be willing to try it. Microbreweries are springing up everywhere, but few go so far as to bottle (or can) their products.

Isn't it odd how there are times when journal pages take on a mind of their own? It has happened to me more than once, and it surprised me to no end. This is certainly a thoroughly thought provoking spread. Thanks for sharing it with us at Art Journal Journey using Neet's great theme.
Sorry if I got you hooked on ATCs. Yours are absolutely stunning. Looks like you are ready for Halloween. I'd love to have an ATC swap, but am not sure how many would like to join.
I'm not a card maker, Nancy, so I was going to ask what ISS is. However, when Neet, who has stamped all her life, or since I've known her, which is over 12 years, didn't know, I didn't feel so bad asking.

ISS is the abbreviation for Ink Spray Smash - take some ink on foil, acrylic or similar surface, spritz with water and smash your paper. I think some people call it mop ups - lol! Sorry!!!!

Where do I start? There is so much things to see in your post. The charcuterie platter is beautiful! I have never seen the rose, but it's a great idea and I will try to find a similar video the next time I have a party or friends round. I hope it will be soon. I love entertaining and I miss having people over.

I love the journal page for Neet's AJJ theme - even though you think it's sad it looks amazing! Love the alcohol ink background you made for the Witchy gnome. I used to make a lot of ATCs a while ago and was part of a swap group which sadly folded. Love these - even though I am not a great Halloween fan!
