Wine of the Week, Wine on TV, and Art

Happy T-day friends!  


The wine of the week for me was The Uprising.  Such a fun name.  It was pretty good - I would buy it again if it comes back on sale.  Isn't the label fun?

I am having a glass of it right now while watching a wine themed movie on Hallmark called Paris, Wine and Romance. 

Such a sweet movie, and how wonderful to see the glimpes of Paris.  I want to try her pinot wine they are all chatting about in the movie.  Wish it was a true story.  I am not normally a Hallmark movie fan, but I am totally enjoying this sappy happy treat.  The wine and the movie are my ticket so I can hang out with the T-day gang at Elizabeth's. 

Art for the week.

Today's technique and CAS challenges on Splitcoaststampers.com were about back to school and lots of ink colors. The sentiment is from Riley & Co and the ruler is from DRS Designs. The ink was applied using reinkers applied directly to a sponge - fun technique. 

Played with some new to me dies from Spellbinders. I watercolored this basket and sponged the leaves and flowers.  Super fun to create this birthday card for my sweet oldest daughter, Crystal. 
Also I tried the water color challenge on Splitcoaststampers.com again.  The images are from SU! Good Morning Magnolia. I tried to do it all with no lines but had to add back a few.

    Although I'm not a wine drinker, I would buy that for the label alone. It is wonderful. Laughed that it was aged for 30 days. Not very long for wine.

    I just can't get into the Hallmark Channel, although I like HMM for the mysteries. I have never been able to get into chick flicks. Glad you enjoyed it and you want to try that wine.

    LOVE your cards, Nancy. They are wonderful. I have ONE black Staz-on and one black dye ink pad, but I have a TON of reinkers (dye, solvent, pigment, and distress). They are so useful for everything. Glad to read you use reinkers, too. Love that ruler background.

    That wine bottle is fabulous, it would make a wonderful candle holder for parties! Your art is beautiful, as always, and my fave piece is the gorgeous card for your lovely daughter!     You created some very beautiful cards, Nancy. I especially like the one for your daughter. To answer your question, yes, the wine we had in Alsace is really good. I tried Gewürztraminer, a Rosé and a Riesling which was my favorite. Riesling in that are usually pretty dry which I prefer. I'm not a big fan of overly sweet wine.

    Beautiful artwork, Nancy. I love watching Hallmark movies. I just watched one Sunday night. It was about a ranch. LOL I can't remember what else. I haven't see the one about Paris yet. I will watch for it. Happy T Day.

    the wine label looks really adventurous - you can tempt me with that too :-D It's fine if the wine also tastes good and is accompanied by a suitable film.

The Sea, Words of Courage, and Some Ink/Watercolor

Hello friends, Last week felt like a stormy sea of its own with my husband recovering from recent hip replacement surgery and several friends and family members facing life battles - my heart was caught in the waves. Computer issues and lack of sleep didn't help. Mark 4:39-41 reminded me: even when the winds rage, Jesus is in the boat. He speaks peace over the chaos. “Peace, be still.” I needed that reminder. Several lovely Creative Worship Stamps sets were used in the making of this watercolored and inked BAJ page: The Sea (the boat and verse), Scene Silhouettes: Tall Grasses, and Have Courage . This page was stamped, then watercolored with Daniel Smith Watercolors. I finished it off with some Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Vintage Photo, Mustard Seed, and Ground Expresso), plus a little bit of Silver Stickles. Flowers, a Flag, and Some Wise Words

Hello Crafty Friends! I love Halle's theme at **Art*Journal*Journey* this month: Botanicals. So many possibilities... I combined the botanical theme with some of the colors in ARTNUDGE#725A and came up with this Bible Art Journal page focusing on 1 Timothy 2:1-2. I also made a patriotic prayer card too. In these verses, Paul tells Timothy (and all of us) to pray for everyone but he especially calls out prayer for kings and leaders. He indicates that this type of prayer could lead us to a tranquil and quite life in all godliness and dignity. I think we can all agree that the world needs much prayer right now and it is an easy step we can take.   I experimented on this journal page. I usually cover any bible journal pages with gesso before painting on them, but I have issues with the gesso gumming up my Micron pens or unevenly taking color. This time I used Daniel Smith Ground Medium in Titanium White (I mixed it with 10 parts water). I loved it and will be using it in the fut...

Wise Words for Life's Storms

 My first post as a Guest Designer for Creative Worship Stamps. This watercolor and ink card features one of my favorite CWS sentiments - Big God . I am so grateful He is there in storms and this stamp beautifully underscores His power. The main panel of this card is watercolor paper and was painted with Daniel Smith Watercolors and Liquid Ink (the white highlights in the rain drops). The words were stamped with black ink from Close to My Heart. Hugz, Nancy
