A Flying Car, Sister Lunch, and Art

Hello, Friends. Happy T-day and happy 4th if you celebrate it.

My ticket to Elizabeth's T-day party is my Saturday lunch with my Sister Sharon.  We went to Jan's Beach House Cafe in Montgomery since my sister had never been there. You can see I had a really large diet coke (kept me up up that night).  I also had a pick 4 veggie plate (fried green tomatoes, brocolli, turnips, and pintos), and my sister had fried catfish.  It was very good.

Other than making a few cards and reading, that was all I did all weekend.  We are resting up and saving up for our upcoming trip to Georgia.  Speaking of our trip, I did the cover page to my 6x8 scrapbook I am doing for our trip.
It has a Harry Potter vibe because we are staying in a Harry Potter themed tiny house our first night.  Some of you might think that is a bit out there, but I am super excited.  I thought it would be fun to put the flying car from Happy Potter over a partial map of Georgia.  Since this is a flying car, this page fits into Alison's Come Fly With Me theme at **Art*Journal*Journey*.   I recycled a map I purchased at a garage sale, cutting it up and distressing it.

This past week's cards/art include this Splitcoaststampers.com watercolor challenge card using tissue/paper towels to make rocks and waves.  The stamp is from Stamping Up!

I also played with the Christmas Scottie image (SU! set from last year).

Looking forward to Elizabeth's 10 year anniversary in two weeks - I will put my thinking cap on for fun ways to use the number 10.

  2. Every time Ii visit you you have fried green tomatoes, it seems - and here you cannot get that!
    How do they taste like???
Your card is wonderful for that trip!
    As is the second!
    Christmas... oh, give it time...
I wore a sweater all day today - where is summer?!
But anyways: to a happy T-Day. I have no idea for the ten yet...

    1. Iris, they taste different in different places honestly. These were super crunchy (maybe a bit too crunchy) on the outside and then like a super tart tomato on the inside. I would give them a 5 out 10. The ones I posted a few weeks ago were a 9 out of 10 - they were less crunchy and then the bacon and sauce made them have so much flavor.

  3. Interesting veggie selection! I used to make fried green tomatoes, but I haven’t seen any green ones for sale in a long time.

  4. I would probably have opted for the fried catfish, but I love that you so many options for veggies. I think I never had turnips - at least I can't remember I had them.
Beautiful cards, even though I don't even want to think of Christmas.
Have a wonderful trip to Georgia!

  6. Your upcoming trip to Georgia sounds fantastic Nancy. I would love to stay in a mini-Harry Potter house myself. Be sure to take lots of photos. I love your album cover. It’s a great idea. And your weekend doesn’t sound too different from mine as we had a lot of rain. Your lunch does look delicious too. I hope you had a great T day and 4th also. Hugs Erika

  8. I adore your journal cover. It's not just a wonderful cover for Alison's theme at AJJ, it is also a very clever take on flying. I am not a HP fan, but i can certainly appreciate the art from it. Thanks for sharing it with us at AJJ. And I look forward to your trip, too, dear. I know it will be fun to see it in both journal and photo form.

Your veggie meal looks great, especially for this vegetarian. I now want some fried green tomatoes, but all I planted were Romas and they don't make good fried green tomatoes.

Your cards are wonderful. I really like the texture you got from the beach scene. Thanks for sharing your journal cover, your lovely cards, your meal and your diet Coke with us for T this Tuesday, dear Nancy.

  10. Wonderful cards - and flying car is cool! I'm wondering weather it is hybrid or gas working ;)

  11. The food looks yummy. I don't drink Coke (I use it to unblock my drains) so I would not have that problem, lol. I do have a habit of drinking coffee late at night but luckily it has never kept me awake.
    Beautiful cards.
Sorry I'm late. Tuesday is a busy day for me.
    Belated happy T-Day,
    Hugs,
    Lisca

Forest Goodies and Other Projects

Hello Crafty Friends. I just got the Stamperia Forest Paper and Die Cuts in the mail so I had to play with them right away.   I have a combo creation - journal page and card.  On the journal page I used my 6x6 Dina Wakley Journal and laid a base of gesso.  I then used Dina's pastel crayons and some SU! inks and stamps.  Also added in some TH Dress Ink in Vintage Photo since I don't know how to make anything without it  (seriously).   The eagle is a Stamperia Forest die cut and is coated with gesso.  Did a bit of stenciling and distressing to finish the page off.  I am linking this the the **Art*Journal*Journey* September Texture Theme (last day - can't wait to see what October's Theme will be).  The die cut and the little smears add texture to the already very textured page.   I love the blue and green together and was inspired to made a quick card for my Son-in-law who cut down some tree limbs for us the other day.  The paper in the middle is from the Stamperia Forest

A Martini, Peanut Butter Cupakes, and Art

Hello Friends. Today, I have an ecletic mix of drinks, dessert, and art. First, it's T-day somewhere in the world so time for a drink post which I am linking to Elizabeth's Blog - Altered Book Lover.  Last week we had a work related dinner.  When the waitress asked what I wanted to drink, I had a sudden craving for a martini.  I use to love them, but I guess my tastes have changed because I wasn't a fan.  I was a fan of the chips and dips though! And the day before, I brought my Sister's fabulous peanut butter cupcakes.  Mainly because I was craving them and couldn't ask her to make just one..... Over at **Art*Journal*Journey* Elle picked a theme of Books, Cats, and Tea (you can pick one, two or three of the items).  I did a Bible Journal Page in my Journaling Bible - Luke 13:24-25.  After a layer of Gesso, I took a Sharpie pen and drew the kitty, then the narrow door, and then colored the door with Arteza Brush pens. The verse was written with a Micron pen.  This

Milkshake Malt Porter and a Bit of Art

Hello friends and Happy T-day. It has been hit or miss with me lately on T-day posts. The remodel of our house next door has taken our mental and physical energy.  I think a few more weeks and things will be on the contractor instead of us.  Hopefully I will be back to normal by then. My Oldest Darling Daughter asked if we wanted to come for dinner Saturday.  Translation:  go to the store with me and we will bring part of dinner to your house and you cook the rest.  While at the store, I saw one 6 pack of this fun milkshake porter so, of course, I bought it.  It smells wonderful (a hint of chocolate and a hit of malt) and has a light creamy taste.  I would definitely buy it again if I see it.  My son-in-law did not like it, but he is more a  Miller Lite fan.  Now if this had been a whiskey, he would have been all over it.  LOL.  Linking this to Elizabeth's blog for the T-party gang. Darling Daughter had tried her hand at dried pintos, and she rocked them (I will begging for a rep
