Chicken and Dumplings, Quilting, and Flowers

I have two BAJ/Card combinations to share. 

This one is linked up to the **Art*Journal*Journey* Geometric Patterns.  
I cased THIS lovely card by Pat (Kokirose).  I used the same quilt pattern she did, but changed up the papers, did faux sewing, expanded it, and added a verse from Psalms 78 to it.  Papers are SU! and stash.  The matching card has a vintage SU! Stove (1998 found the stamp at a flea market) and some accessories from the SU! Perfect Mix set.   This is going to a lovely friend who is making me some masks and is on cooking adventures as well.

My next combo has some lovely Peonies and leaves against a stenciled brick wall. I drew the flowers using THIS lovely flower picture as my inspiration. Colored it up with some water color pencils, which I also used to create splatter.  Added a bit of  Stickles and Acrylic Paint to the little fill ins.  This card is going to a friend who could use a pick me up.  The Muah stamp is Stamp-abilities.
I woke up today in a cooking mood.  Haven't really been in one of those in a very long time.  I made Cheesy Bacon and Egg Hash for breakfast. Then I made chicken and dumplings from scratch (tried to get close to my Mom's version with thicker strips of dumplings. I also made fried apple and cheese casserole, and squash and potatoes. I probably gained 5 lbs!

    great journal pages, I love your patchwork -beautiful country look and those flowers are amazing. Love the depth of colour from your watercolour pencil.

    There's a precision to your folded quilt pattern which is very elegant, and I do like the rustic colour palette - but it's those glorious peonies against the sun-drenched bricks which really captured my heart here.

    Beautiful pages Nancy! Love the quilting one with the matching card! And your peonies are gorgeous, amazing watercoloring and drawing, love the lightly stenciled backgrounds too! I bet that casserole was delicious!

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

 I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

A Covered Bridge, a Shotgun Wedding, Patton Wisdom, and Some Art

 On our recent vaction, hubby and I got back to our historical marker seeking.  This time we visited the Clarkson Covered Bridge. It is super long and very cool.  We also found a website HERE that has a mapped out tour of Alabama where you can visit 7 in one day - a fun trip for a Fall weekend.  This is the only picture I took of the bridge. The day before, we visited the Patton Musuem at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and viewed Ft. Knox from as close as they will let you get. They say there is still a ton of gold in Ft. Knox - trillions of dollars worth.  We liked the Patton Museum.  I don't agree with most of Patton's management style, but do respect that he accomplished much.  I was impressed with some of his leadership statements like this one which I totally agree with: They have some fabulous items at the museum - hubby could have looked for hours and hours if I had let him.
