A Face in My Floor, Cheesecake, and Tim Burton ATCs

Sometimes your eyes or mind open and you see things you have never seen before.....

This past week, I noticed a face in one of the boards on my floor.  I did a rubbing of it with a Stabilo pencil on some copy paper and created this card (it is a case of a card by Stamperrobin at SCS - she had fairies and magical elements - my magical element is that I found a face in my floor - lol).

Since it is T-day somewhere in the world I have my drink picture of the week and am joining the T-day crew at Elizabeth's blog.  Happy T-day friends!

The mug is Dunoon China. One day, I got a speck of watercolor paint in hubby's coffee cup and he refused to use it again....  So I saw this mug or one like it on a post by Valerie (one of the T-gang).  I ordered it for him to replace the one I "ruined." He has finally decided to drink out of it after leaving it  on the mantel for 8 months.

Have you ever had a week so bad you knew that only cheesecake could fix it?  That was my week last week.... sick family members, sick work team members, a lot of work, had to get a new dryer, library books were due and I wasn't done with them, etc....  My favorite chocolate chip cheesecake did make me feel better - HERE is the recipe if you are interested.

We could not find the springform pan so it had to go in my oval dish.  We change out the cocoa, sugar and graham crackers in the crust for Oreo cookies (we take half the insides out).  Hope I don't have that craving again soon - I gained 2 lbs this weekend!

It was Tim Burton celebration week in the town of Wetumpka which is very close to our house.  That is where they filmed the Big Fish, and the town feels that the movie turned them around and made them better.  They wanted to celebrate Tim. There was a giant cake, Tim Burton Trivia contests at the restaurants, a showing of the Big Fish in the Alley (it is a park between a few buildings), and most the downtown store fronts decorated their windows in his honor.  I decided to join in and make some Tim Burton-themed ATCS.

Jack and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas and Emily from Corpse bride - the backgrounds are Ink Spray Smash (ISS), I drew the characters, and the words are from another Tim - Tim Holtz.
The next two ATCs are made using stamps I thought worked for my Big Fish tribute (the trees are Penny Black and the fish is River City Rubber Works Big Ugly Bass - updated after I looked it up).
I attempted to draw the cat from Tim's version of  Alice in Wonderland  - it didn't come out too great, but with these words, it kind of redeems itself don't you think?
I coated each card with Versamark and 2 layers of Ranger Clear Embossing Powder.

We are watching the storm and are hoping we don't have a lot of damage. I feel awful for those that did have damage.  I go between hurting for them and the people in Afghanistan.  Depressing stuff.  Where is that cheesecake....

  1. Now I'm going to have to look all over my house to find any faces that appear in my floors. I can't do rubbings, though, because the floors are sanded and finished with polyurethane. I love your found face.

  2. I know, this past week was full of all kinds of turmoil. I can see why you wanted cheesecake. And it looks yummy. I like your mug too. My husband would love one like that. And boy, that was magic that you found that face on your wood floor. It is pretty amazing. Your ATC's are lots of fun too. You certainly made a tribute statement with them. Nice! Hope this week goes better for you, and have a wonderful T day. hugs-Erika

  3. You are so creative, Nancy, to see the face on your floor, and then make a rubbing of it. And it does look like a face! How cool! I don't recognize the stamp as one of River City's, but it might be. I used to love looking at all their images online, then go to their place, it was a big red barn! They made the stamps in one part and then, on one side you could purchase them and they had a place for classes, too. So sad they are gone. I wish I had more of their stamps. Like I don't have enough! LOL All your creations are wonderful as usual. Chocolate Chip cheese cake sounds too good to be true. Happy T Day!

  5. I was amazed by that rubbing you created. What an unusual face, too. I love your ATCs, although I am not a big fan of Tim Burton. Not that I don't like him, I just have never watched anything he was in. I have two River City Rubber fish. One is perch and the other is carp. However, they are larger than ATC size and they are full fish. It DOES look a bit like one of theirs, though. Three friends and I got to see how the they make the rubber stamps sold in the barn. They gave us a tour of the shop, which is separate from the building (red barn) where the three sisters used to live. I was sick when they went out of business. I loved their stamps and I don't say that very often.

Your husband's new mug is beautiful. I hope he enjoys it, because it sounds like you went to a lot of trouble finding it for him. Thanks for sharing your ATCs, your rubbing, your cheesecake, and your husband's new mug with us for T this Tuesday, dear.

  6. I can't believe you found a face on your floor and created a card from it, you are so creative. I love the mug and your cheesecake looks rather yummy, I probably put on a couple of pounds just looking at it! It sounds like everyone in your area had a great week with all of the celebrations and you have created a super collection of ATCs.

  7. Lots of beautiful art, today, and I love the face in the floor, really magical! The new mug is lovely, but men are sometimes strange, aren't they!? I've sometimes dipped my brush in my coffee cup or drunk from my water post while painting - of course, by accident, but nothing happened to me! And I will be dreaming of your cheese cake all day! Hugs, Valerie

  8. Cool eye and weee, Hubby would LOVE that mug!!!

My cheesecake is a pizza, oh sorry you had so much crap!

I have The Nightmare Before Cristmas on my swing :-)

Oh, the cat! My Bro and I were in Alice in Wonderland- restaurant on our Mum´s last holiday.
Sad... so sad she is gone, but those are sweet memories.

Nature and politics suck big this year.
And we cannot help it. So... smile? Have a happy T-Day!

  9. I totally understand your cheesecake moments. Sometimes the world sucks. (Somebody once said: It's good the world sucks, or we'd all fall off!)
That mug is really special. Spitfires deserve to be remembered.
I love your 'face' that you found on the floor.
I confess I had to Google Tim Burton. We live a very sheltered life in a remote village in rural Spain and we don't have tv and we don't go to the cinema and don't like horror films. But it was interesting to read about his success and I can well imagine it has done the town of Wetumpka a lot of good.
I continue to think of and pray for the people in the way of hurrican Ida and the woman of Kabul.
    Happy T-Day,
    Hugs,
    Lisca

  12. Cheesecake is always a good idea 😉. Loving your floor rubbing, that's a great face! Your ATCs are wonderful too and I'm glad your hubby decided to use his mug too, we have a real spitfire installed by the lake where we live as they used to be made near here. My heart goes out to those affected by the hurricane too! Sending you Happy T Day wishes and enjoy that cheesecake! Hugs Jo x

Love, love love it and yes I can see the face. I love the ATCs too…such fun. The cat one cracks me up. You also have the coolest mugs and poor Kenny. Make sure you don’t put gel medium in it. Forest Goodies and Other Projects

Hello Crafty Friends. I just got the Stamperia Forest Paper and Die Cuts in the mail so I had to play with them right away.   I have a combo creation - journal page and card.  On the journal page I used my 6x6 Dina Wakley Journal and laid a base of gesso.  I then used Dina's pastel crayons and some SU! inks and stamps.  Also added in some TH Dress Ink in Vintage Photo since I don't know how to make anything without it  (seriously).   The eagle is a Stamperia Forest die cut and is coated with gesso.  Did a bit of stenciling and distressing to finish the page off.  I am linking this the the **Art*Journal*Journey* September Texture Theme (last day - can't wait to see what October's Theme will be).  The die cut and the little smears add texture to the already very textured page.   I love the blue and green together and was inspired to made a quick card for my Son-in-law who cut down some tree limbs for us the other day.  The paper in the middle is from the Stamperia Forest

A Martini, Peanut Butter Cupakes, and Art

Hello Friends. Today, I have an ecletic mix of drinks, dessert, and art. First, it's T-day somewhere in the world so time for a drink post which I am linking to Elizabeth's Blog - Altered Book Lover.  Last week we had a work related dinner.  When the waitress asked what I wanted to drink, I had a sudden craving for a martini.  I use to love them, but I guess my tastes have changed because I wasn't a fan.  I was a fan of the chips and dips though! And the day before, I brought my Sister's fabulous peanut butter cupcakes.  Mainly because I was craving them and couldn't ask her to make just one..... Over at **Art*Journal*Journey* Elle picked a theme of Books, Cats, and Tea (you can pick one, two or three of the items).  I did a Bible Journal Page in my Journaling Bible - Luke 13:24-25.  After a layer of Gesso, I took a Sharpie pen and drew the kitty, then the narrow door, and then colored the door with Arteza Brush pens. The verse was written with a Micron pen.  This

Milkshake Malt Porter and a Bit of Art

Hello friends and Happy T-day. It has been hit or miss with me lately on T-day posts. The remodel of our house next door has taken our mental and physical energy.  I think a few more weeks and things will be on the contractor instead of us.  Hopefully I will be back to normal by then. My Oldest Darling Daughter asked if we wanted to come for dinner Saturday.  Translation:  go to the store with me and we will bring part of dinner to your house and you cook the rest.  While at the store, I saw one 6 pack of this fun milkshake porter so, of course, I bought it.  It smells wonderful (a hint of chocolate and a hit of malt) and has a light creamy taste.  I would definitely buy it again if I see it.  My son-in-law did not like it, but he is more a  Miller Lite fan.  Now if this had been a whiskey, he would have been all over it.  LOL.  Linking this to Elizabeth's blog for the T-party gang. Darling Daughter had tried her hand at dried pintos, and she rocked them (I will begging for a rep
