A Little Bit of Everything!

This week my kitchen counter has had a little bit of everything on it! New credit cards because I lost the ones they sent me in February (and found them the minute I hung up with the credit card company - it is painful getting older), lots of new recipes, a bunch of card making supplies, 200 beads and assorted necklaces saying Vote for Alex for Senior Class Secretary, and the grocery list I forgot when I went grocery shopping yesterday (so now I get to go again since we are out of coffee filters which you have to have - did I mention how painful it is to get older?).

This card is for the Eye Can See You challenge at Haunted Design House (HDH130) - the challenge ends today so hurry if you want to participate. The rules are to make something with Eyes on it. I used the Octopode Moon. That moon always makes me smile and I always do it in blue. I used the cracked glass technique on my panels. The paper is K&Co and SU!, and I used Versamark and some Clear EP from SU!. The eye on the Moom has Glossy Accents and Silver Stickles.

Here is my Mother's Day card for my Mom:

I used inspiration from Holly (Toy on SCS). I chose her Black 'n Tan card to case. I had to change it up a lot since she used a sketch when she did her card. I made the flower using the Spellbinders Daisy Head die and a stylus. Used the stylus on the paper in small circular motions until the paper seperated into 2 layers; then I did the circular motion until they curled up. I love making these flowers!!! The butterflies are from SU!s Butterfly Embosslet and the black frame is from QuickKutz. Inside is a letter to my Mom. Here are a few quotes so you get the picture: "I especially value the lessons you taught me about how to love others, how to be patient (I am still working on that one), and how to calm down in a stressful situation (also a work in progress). If I have been sucessful in anything in life, it was all due to your influence, love, and support." Anyway, she will love it.

Next, I thought I would share a recipe and some pictures of what Allie (my youngest DD)has been up to lately.

Bacon Ranch Cole Slaw

1 package of pre-cut cole slaw vegetables (or cut your own)
1/4 cup of ranch dressing
3/4 cup of mayo (you may have to add more - Kenny added about 1/2 cup more after I made it)
1/2 package of Real Bacon bits
1/4 cup of finely diced onions
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder and 1/8 tsp of onion powder
1/2 teaspoon of Tabasco
1/2 tablespoon of Cajun Seasoning (I used Weber N'Orleans Cajun Seasoning)
salt, pepper, and paprika to taste

Mix it all together and chill for at least 30 minutes.

This was a busy week for Allie. She went to Prom (her boyfriend's Senior Prom this time) last Friday, went Turkey hunting with him on Sunday (and to his home church with his family afterward), and won Senior Class Secretary (on the campaign picture below - she made those necklaces - the ones I made had panels cut out with Spellbinders, typed slogans, and lots of Stickles, but hers were darling too). I told her weeks like this don't come often, and she better appreciate it! Here are some pictures:

Hugz to all and thanks for looking at all these pictures if you made it this far!!!!

Forest Goodies and Other Projects

Hello Crafty Friends. I just got the Stamperia Forest Paper and Die Cuts in the mail so I had to play with them right away.   I have a combo creation - journal page and card.  On the journal page I used my 6x6 Dina Wakley Journal and laid a base of gesso.  I then used Dina's pastel crayons and some SU! inks and stamps.  Also added in some TH Dress Ink in Vintage Photo since I don't know how to make anything without it  (seriously).   The eagle is a Stamperia Forest die cut and is coated with gesso.  Did a bit of stenciling and distressing to finish the page off.  I am linking this the the **Art*Journal*Journey* September Texture Theme (last day - can't wait to see what October's Theme will be).  The die cut and the little smears add texture to the already very textured page.   I love the blue and green together and was inspired to made a quick card for my Son-in-law who cut down some tree limbs for us the other day.  The paper in the middle is from the Stamperia Forest

A Martini, Peanut Butter Cupakes, and Art

Hello Friends. Today, I have an ecletic mix of drinks, dessert, and art. First, it's T-day somewhere in the world so time for a drink post which I am linking to Elizabeth's Blog - Altered Book Lover.  Last week we had a work related dinner.  When the waitress asked what I wanted to drink, I had a sudden craving for a martini.  I use to love them, but I guess my tastes have changed because I wasn't a fan.  I was a fan of the chips and dips though! And the day before, I brought my Sister's fabulous peanut butter cupcakes.  Mainly because I was craving them and couldn't ask her to make just one..... Over at **Art*Journal*Journey* Elle picked a theme of Books, Cats, and Tea (you can pick one, two or three of the items).  I did a Bible Journal Page in my Journaling Bible - Luke 13:24-25.  After a layer of Gesso, I took a Sharpie pen and drew the kitty, then the narrow door, and then colored the door with Arteza Brush pens. The verse was written with a Micron pen.  This

Milkshake Malt Porter and a Bit of Art

Hello friends and Happy T-day. It has been hit or miss with me lately on T-day posts. The remodel of our house next door has taken our mental and physical energy.  I think a few more weeks and things will be on the contractor instead of us.  Hopefully I will be back to normal by then. My Oldest Darling Daughter asked if we wanted to come for dinner Saturday.  Translation:  go to the store with me and we will bring part of dinner to your house and you cook the rest.  While at the store, I saw one 6 pack of this fun milkshake porter so, of course, I bought it.  It smells wonderful (a hint of chocolate and a hit of malt) and has a light creamy taste.  I would definitely buy it again if I see it.  My son-in-law did not like it, but he is more a  Miller Lite fan.  Now if this had been a whiskey, he would have been all over it.  LOL.  Linking this to Elizabeth's blog for the T-party gang. Darling Daughter had tried her hand at dried pintos, and she rocked them (I will begging for a rep
